Bloomsbury Publishing Plc Your Life Has Been Delayed
When Jenny Waters boards her flight in New York on August 2nd, 1995, the two most pressing things on her mind are figuring how to convince her parents to let her apply to her dream journalism program at Columbia, and reuniting with (and maybe finally kissing) her brand-new boyfriend, Steve. But when Jenny and the other passengers disembark in St. Louis, the airport officials inform them that their plane disappeared – twenty-five years ago. Everyone thought they were dead. How did the universe hit pause on their flight while the rest of the world kept going? Jenny needs to contend with everyone she knows fast-forwarding two and a half decades – three of her grandparents are gone, her parents are old, and her “little” brother is now an adult with two young kids of his own. And then there’s the world itself... she’s missed out on iPhones and social media and pop culture. When new information comes to light, Jenny feels betrayed by her once-best friend. She's also fighting her attraction to Dylan, a kind new classmate who’s helping her get up to speed on the present (and nudging to read Harry Potter already!)... who also happens to be Steve’s son. To add to the complications, there’s a growing contingent of conspiracy theorists who are determined to prove that the disappearance of Flight 237 hides a sinister truth that needs to be exposed, and that Jenny’s very existence is a hoax. Will Jenny figure out how to move forward, or will she always be stuck in the past?

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc Jackie Robinson: A Life in American History
Jackie Robinson: A Life in American History provides readers with an understanding of the scope of Robinson's life and explores why no Major League Baseball player will ever again wear number 42 as his regular jersey number. This book captures Robinson's lifetime, from 1919 to 1972, while focusing on his connections to the unresolved promise of the Reconstruction Era and to the civil rights movement of the 20th century. In addition to covering Robinson's athletic career with the UCLA Bruins, the Kansas City Monarchs, the Montreal Royals, and the Brooklyn Dodgers, the book explores sociopolitical elements to situate Robinson's story and impact within the broader context of United States history. The book makes deliberate connections among the failure of Reconstruction, the creation of the Negro Leagues, the rise and decline of legalized segregation in the United States, the progress of the civil rights movement, and Robinson's life. Chronological chapters begin with Robinson's life before he played professional baseball, continue with an exploration of the Negro Leagues and Robinson's career with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and conclude with an examination of Robinson's post-retirement life as well as his influence on civil rights. Supplemental materials including document excerpts give readers an opportunity to explore contemporary accounts of Robinson's career and impact.

Grub Street Publishing The Everyday Wheat-free and Gluten-free Cookbook
Coeliacs are people who suffer from a sensitive reaction to gluten, which is the protein found in wheat and rye. Similar substances are found in barley and oats. Since gluten damages the lining of the small intestine of coeliacs, it makes their ability to absorb adequate nutrients from food difficult, which results in severe illness resembling malnutrition. Coeliacs may be acutely ill with weight loss, tiredness, lethargy and breathlessness. The only treatment which can rectify a coeliac condition is a gluten-free diet. A coeliac must not eat any food which contains flour or wheat, barley or rye in any form. Ths means excluding bread, biscuits, crispbreads, cakes, pastry, pasta, breadcrumbs, semolina and food cooked in batter. Flour is also an ingredient in many tinned, packaged and processed foods as well as ready meals. A gluten-free diet can therefore pose major difficulties for the coeliac. This recipe book offers 200 recipes using special gluten-free flours, breads and pasta now available on the market, many of which coeliacs can obtain on a doctor’s prescription.

CABI Publishing Elephant Tourism in Nepal: Historical Perspectives, Current Health and Welfare Challenges, and Future Directions
A study of elephant tourism in Nepal from its origins in the 1960s to the present day, this book examines the challenges faced by captive elephants. Used as human conveyance, on anti-poaching patrol teams, as rescue vehicles, and in forestry service, elephants have worked with and for humans for hundreds of years. However, the use of elephants in tourism is a fairly new development within Nepal. Because the health and welfare of tourism elephants is vital to the conservation of wild individuals, this book offers an assessment of captive elephant needs and an examination of their existing welfare statuses. Numerous NGOS and INGOs are now active in elephant lives, and numerous advocacy organizations have arisen with the goal of changing tourism practices and improving captive elephant welfare. This book seeks to examine the motivations of these NGOs and INGOs, and to consider their ethical approaches to elephant health and welfare. Are the motivations of these organizations similar enough to work together towards a common goal, or are their ethical norms so different that they get in one another's way? Using an ordinary language and ethics framework, this text aims to identify the norms of cultures and organisations and reframe them in ways which may allow for more successful interactions.

Edinburgh University Press Sensational Internationalism: The Paris Commune and the Remapping of American Memory in the Long Nineteenth Century
WINNER of the 2017 Arthur Miller Institute First Book Prize. Remaps the borders of transatlantic feeling and resituates the role of international memory in U.S. culture in the long nineteenth century and beyond. In refocusing attention on the Paris Commune as a key event in American political and cultural memory, 'Sensational Internationalism' radically changes our understanding of the relationship between France and the United States in the long nineteenth century. It offers fascinating, remarkably accessible readings of a range of literary works, from periodical poetry and boys' adventure fiction to radical pulp and the writings of Henry James, as well as a rich analysis of visual, print, and performance culture, from post-bellum illustrated weeklies and panoramas to agit-prop pamphlets and Coney Island pyrotechnic shows. Throughout, it uncovers how a foreign revolution came back to life as a domestic commodity, and why for decades another nation's memory came to feel so much our own. This book will speak to readers looking to understand the affective, cultural, and aesthetic afterlives of revolt and revolution pre-and-post Occupy Wall Street, as well as those interested in space, gender, performance, and transatlantic print culture.
