"Der Koran" ist ja nicht nur historisches Faktum, er ist auch Konstrukt unserer Forschungstradition, seine sehr unterschiedlichen Lektüren bilden zumeist Schulmeinungen ab, die ihm die Zugehörigkeit zu der im Judentum und Christentum entwickelten biblischen Hermeneutik verweigern - eine exklusivistische Position, die sein Verständnis blockiert. Liest man den Koran ohne den Verständnisfilter der monotheistischen Hermeneutik, einfach im Wortsinn, so fallen entscheidende biblisch nicht attestierte Erzählelemente und Argumentationen als fremd aus dem Rahmen. Gerade sie erweisen sich aber bei Anlegung des für die Spätantike typischen Analysekonzepts der Typologie als substantielle Bausteine der sich im Koran spiegelnden Konstruktion einer Gemeindeidentität. Typologie begegnet bei der Hörergemeinde, die biblische Begebenheiten nach-erlebt und sich so selbst zu einem neuen Gottesvolk entwickelt. Typologie begegnet auch beim Verkünder, wenn dieser Mekkas Erwählung zum Geburtsort der neuen Glaubensgemeinschaft als die Erfüllung einer Verheißung Abrahams erkennt. Nicht allein Teilhabe an den biblischen Wissensbeständen, auch Teilhabe an der biblischen Hermeneutik muss dem Koran zuerkannt werden, will man ihn als eine Schrift auf Augenhöhe zu den anderen würdigen. Angelika Neuwirth wendet sich diesen Fragen mit bereits in den Nachbarphilologien erprobten Kriterien (Typologie, Allegorie, Anziehung versus Abstoßung) zu. Sie berücksichtigt dabei auch erstmals die Tatsache der mündlichen Komposition des Koran und damit die Gleichzeitigkeit der Entstehung von Text und Gemeinde.

Asian art and artifacts are understood in their contexts, as "windows" into cultures, and as such can be used as a powerful pedagogical tool in many academic disciplines. The book includes essays by scholars of Asian art, philosophy, anthropology, and religion that focus on objects held in ASIANetwork schools. The ASIANetwork collections are reflective of Asian societies, historical and religious environments, political positions, and economic conditions. The art objects and artifacts were discovered sometimes in storage and were sometimes poorly understood and variously described as fine art, curiosities, souvenirs, and markers of events in a school's history. The chapter authors tell the stories of the collections, and the collections themselves tell stories of the collectors. This volume is intended for use in many disciplines, and its interpretive structures are adaptable to other examples of art and artifacts in other colleges, universities, and museums. During the past five years, the PETRRA (Poverty Elimination Through Rice Research Assistance) project has explored the development of innovative extension mechanisms through a learning-by-doing process with multiple service providers. Partnerships linked government, non-government and private sectors as appropriate. Topics addressed by the project include seed production and distribution systems, crop and soil fertility management, postharvest technologies, mobile pumps, aromatic rice and integrated rice-duck farming. The methods used include women-led group extension, whole family approach, participatory video, Going Public and picture songs. This book examines these approaches to extension and assesses their potential for replicability and scaling-up.
