AVEdition Design Engineering: Sustainable and Holistic
The book describes the potential of both design objects and concepts, as well as design as a process, with a strong focus on the process of design engineering in the past, present and future. The book makes a stance by referring to historic and current design parameters in industry in relation to certain training methods. It compares these within Europe, explicitly the approach taken by Germany, Great Britain, and Scandinavia – and highlights best practice examples. The range of design disciplines, especially an in-depth look at classic product and textile design, leads to new “blueprint” possibilities and interactive design methods.

AVEdition Münchner Volkstheater: Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei
How do you actually build a people‘s theatre? As simple as necessary, so as not to cause any fear about entering in the audience, and as chic as possible, because theatre is not only about staging on stage. This is the answer of the architectural firm Lederer, Ragnarsdóttir, Oei (Stuttgart) and the construction company Reisch (Bad Saulgau). Their Munich Volkstheater presents itself as a powerfully poetic brick building that is in dialogue with the old buildings of the former Munich cattle yard and gives the neighbourhood an important cultural impulse. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Ausbau und dergleichen: House Building and the Like
Idea (sketch), concept (presentation drawing), execution (photograph): structured by these three aspects, Axel Müller-Schöll presents in his book House building and the Like a variety of different projects that have to do with an interior or structural architect’s classical portfolio in varying degrees. They are, however, all developed on the basis of the classical toolkit that is part of every architect’s training and then of their professional work. It is still the idea that makes all the difference and that serves as a basis for a draft in the following step. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Trade Fair Design Annual 2017/18
Current brand communication is increasingly moving towards real-digital narratives. Storytelling plays a major role in this, as well as the type of communication. Particularly at trade fairs, personal discussion is still the key aspect of every presentation. With this edition of the Trade Fair Design Annual, the authors present a series of successful examples of transmedia storytelling, attaching particular importance to the accomplished use of means of communication. What is decisive, however, is the exceptional design of the overall presentation, which can add communicative and therefore informative value for the exhibitor, as well as provide an emotional experience for the visitors. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Borders: European Architectural Photography Prize 2017
architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. This time the contestants' subject is "Borders." A polarized subject, borders can be understood in the sense of opening or closing, of including or excluding, or as definitions of geographical or (urban) spatial areas. They can be clearly recognizable or subtly noticeable, but are always perceived as either protecting or deterring. In the context of the European Architectural Photography Prize 2017, this book by no means focuses on the negative interpretations of this term, but rather on how the concept of 'borders' influences and stimulates photographic-artistic involvement with our built environment. This book accompanies an international traveling exhibition, starting in the German Architecture Museum (DAM) on May 5th, 2017.

AVEdition Trade Fair Design Annual 2015/2016
If all five senses are appealed to in brand communication, then it significantly intensifies the emotional links between the brand and the consumer. Therefore it is no wonder that multisensory aspects play a particularly important role in trade fair presentations. The atmosphere of a trade fair hall can easily lead to a sensory overload. Exhibitors are therefore not only engaged in a product competition, but also in a perceptual competition. In light of this, authors of this year's trade fair design yearbook have once again brought together the best 60 trade fair stands of the past year and show a cross section of trade fair design that appeals to all the senses. Text in English and German.

Long before the emergence of drones, the award-winning photography duo photographed the beach, with their camera appearing to hover above the masses of people. AVEdition Media Architecture Compendium Vol. 2: Concepts, Methods, Practice
Media architecture has evolved from illuminating iconic building façades at night to characterising all life in cities. This compendium draws on academic research and global studies to present an evolutionary account of concepts that have defined the field and inspired practice, alongside methods for bringing media architecture thinking into projects. Thirty media architecture installations that were nominated for the Media Architecture Awards in 2018 and 2020 illustrate the breadth and trends in the field, including a shift towards more-than-human futures. Through its three parts, capturing concepts, methods and practice, the compendium offers an accessible guide to media architecture for designers, architects, artists, scholars, educators and learners. Several of the authors are board members of the Media Architecture Institute, a non-profit organisation with offices in Vienna, Sydney, Beijing and Toronto.

AVEdition Brand Experience & Trade Fair Design Annual 2022/23
It is definite: The trade fair is not dead, the trade fair is changing! And, going forward, this will not be the last time it has to adjust with agility to new circumstances. Designers will need to analyse the qualities of space again more closely – be it the physical space or the digital space: Space should be staged and designed so as to support communication, facilitate encounter and experience, create an immersive effect and, of course, provide content that adds value. But this also means that communication strategies need to be fixed beforehand, particularly if the focus is on positions and visions rather than products as in the past. It will be about connecting people with brands on many different levels in order to shape the future together. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Retail Design International Vol. 8: Components, Spaces, Buildings
Through the connectivity of different cultures, technologies and living environments, the retail sector is increasingly varied and experimental. At the same time, the uncertainties of the last two years have shown that free international trade between nations and continents is a fragile asset. Retail chains have been severed and the availability of energy and raw materials is limited. Creative stopgaps, as well as analogue and digital elements that appeal to all our senses, give new impulses for urban retailing. On the way to a retail metaverse, high-touch meets high-tech. AVEdition Event Design Yearbook 2021-2022: Special Edition

AVEdition Gerd A. Müller: The Designer who got forgotten
The LAMY 2000 fountain pen and the KM 3 food processor are well known even beyond design circles. Nevertheless, their designer, Gerd A. Müller, has faded into obscurity. His designs can be considered pioneering for the development of a new, pared-back design language among well-known companies. Together with Dieter Rams, he was one of the first form designers at Braun. Now, for the very first time, the highly diverse body of work created by this industrial, graphic, ecological and exhibition designer from Frankfurt has been compiled in a publication. Here, the focus is firmly on Gerd A. Müller’s product designs, which have helped shape German industrial design to this day. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Event Design Yearbook 2020/2021
The world is changing. A host of developments are impacting our lives: sustainability, values, equality, purpose, digitisation or 'Gen Z'. However, a consideration of the majority of brand experiences gives rise to the question: Where is the change? It occurred: with COVID-19! And suddenly it was about people's lives, about our supply system and saving our and many other sectors. This is therefore a special Event Design Yearbook. It allows us to revel in projects that have been prohibited for months in 2020. It also shows experience concepts from the time before COVID-19. With all the foreseen changes after the pandemic, as described for example by Cedric Ebener in an interview, one can only speculate how the concepts presented here might look in future. Text in English and German. Contents: Public Events; Consumer Events; Employee Events; Press Events.

The theme for 2019 is "Joyful Architecture". The most common expectations of architecture can be described in terms such as usability, urban planning, economy, sustainability and aesthetics.
