Cheim & Read Louise Fishman
This publication brings together a characteristically wide-ranging group of new works by painter Louise Fishman (born 1939). The paintings in this volume all appear as spontaneous improvisations upon an implied grid, but vary widely in scale (from 4 x 6 inches to 96 inches wide) and method. Paint is troweled, squeezed from the tube, diluted into a wash, pressed on with a sheet of paper and pulled off. The mediums include oil, watercolor, egg tempera, colored pencil, ink and graphite. The varied nature of Fishman’s work can be explained by a simple statement from the artist herself: “My intention, always, was to not repeat a painting, was to not repeat aspects of paintings. My intention in painting is to keep discovering and to keep changing.”

Pace Publishing David Adjaye Adam Pendleton
A dialogue of materials and process, space and language, architecture and art This new volume, designed in collaboration with American artist Adam Pendleton (born 1984) and Ghanaian British artist and architect David Adjaye (born 1966), explores the blurred boundary between art and architecture. Featuring new silkscreen canvases by Pendleton and marble sculptures by Adjaye, this publication brings the artists and their works into conversation. The two collaborators discuss their respective practices and their process of working together on the creation of the exhibition at Pace, as well as notions of history, language, abstraction and space—whether architectonic or on canvas—and how these themes involve and reveal themselves in their work. Images of finished artworks are interspersed with photographs of their production, giving a behind-the-scenes look at process, from the quarrying, cutting and polishing of marble for Adjaye’s works to the meeting of ink and canvas in Pendleton’s studio.

Edhasa Escándalo
Scandal has justly become one of the most internationally successful novels by Shusaku Endo, not only because of the fascinating image it offers of the pleasure districts of Tokyo, but also because of the depth with which it paints the issue of individual identity, as well as the allusion to Edgar Allan Poe's black cat or the presence of anonymous phone calls, which have made rivers of ink flow and which have been identified as antecedents of certain motifs in the most current Japanese narrative. Through the story of Suguro, a Catholic writer (like Endo himself), and his encounter with Naruse, a middle-aged widow who used to be sexually aroused by her husband's accounts of brutalities during his time as a soldier in China . Shusaku Endo confronts the reader with an astonishing conception of sadomasochism and sexual life in a very broad sense.

Abrams George Washington Carver
A fresh look at this pioneering American innovator. Shampoo from peanuts? Wallpaper from clay? Ink from sweet potatoes? Discover Carver’s imagination and inspiration in this one-of-a-kind biography. With imagination and intellect, George Washington Carver (1864–1934) developed hundreds of unexpected products from everyday plants. This book reveals what an exceptionally uncommon man Carver was: trailblasing scholar, innovative scientist, pioneering conservationist, and impassioned educator. This book follows his life from slave and orphan to his college days as the first African American to attend Iowa State College (where he later taught), and on to his life and work in the field of agriculture. Illustrated with historical artifacts and photographs, the book traces Carver’s life, discoveries, and legacy.

Anthology Editions Under the Banner of Concern
Under a Banner of Concern is a compilation of drawings and poetry from acclaimed artist and musician, Tim Presley. Featuring art from Presley’s 2019 exhibition in Chicago and Los Angeles—Under the Banner of Concern—the black ink drawings merge abstracted and expressionistic brush and line work, the latter of which breaks down figures into simple forms. Characterized by Presley’s “every figure” symbology in their emptied out flat bodies and hollowed eye sockets, these figures are both represented as sexualized and mask-like. In addition to his exhibited drawings, the book will also feature previously unreleased artwork, as well as new poetry from Presley. Under a Banner of Concern is a psychedelic visual experience that is a place for introspection rather than pure image-making.
