Ediciones Poligrafa On the Road
On the Road is a recurrent title (motto) that only few times reflects the in-depth meaning of the expression. A key figure in this tradition - Francis of Assisi - is the starting point of the research on contemporary art we collect in this amazing publication.

Ediciones Poligrafa Louise Bourgeois: Armed Forces
This is a unique and evocative collection of images chronicling the last year of acclaimed sculptor, Louise Bourgeois' life. Louise Bourgeois was an immensely influential sculptor and one of the iconic figures of twentieth and early twenty-first century art. She died in May 2010, aged ninety-eight. In the last year of her life, she invited the artist Alex van Gelder to stay at her New York town house and photograph her. More than purely a portrait project, she considered the collaboration to be an extension of her work, allowing her person to be viewed as a segment of her art. Of the hundreds of pictures that van Gelder took, it is those which depict her hands against the black of her clothes that astonish most: gnarled, sinewy and wrinkled with age, they were the tools which produced her extraordinary work. This beautiful book presents twenty of Van Gelder's portraits of Bourgeois' hands, each on a double-page spread and accompanied by comments by the artist.

Ediciones Poligrafa Richard Meier: Museu D'art Contemporani De Barcelona, Macba
Published in Poligrafa's new series on museum architecture, this volume is devoted to the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona--widely known by its acronym "MACBA"--designed by American architect Richard Meier (born 1934). Located in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona, MACBA forges a dialogue with the historic urban quarter. The neighborhood's labyrinthine streets are reflected in the building's organization, most notably in the main entry, as well as a parallel pedestrian walkway that connects the museum's rear garden to a recently created plaza in front of the museum. As befits an institution devoted to modern and contemporary art, the museum synthesizes the striking innovation of its rationalist architecture and the accrued history of its context. Offering detailed information on every aspect of the project, this publication features a full-page photographic essay by renowned Spanish photographer Aleix Bague, as well as an in-depth interview with Meier.

Ediciones Poligrafa Marcel Li Antunez Roca Systematurgy
Marcel Lí Antúnez Roca (Moià, Barcelona, 1959) is internationally renowned for his mechatronic performances and interactive installations. From his earliest days, as founder of the theatre company La Fura dels Baus in 1979, Marcel Lí has assembled his own special universe of interests, to which he has contributed (among other things) his interest in Outsider Art, the trends of the 1960s, technology, science, comics and popular traditions. This personal universe is completed by his embracing of particular aspects of the human experience such as food, sex and death. For over two decades, the performance art that lies at the heart of Marcel Lí''s work has been immersed in digital technology. During this time, he has developed a working procedure he has dubbed ''Systematurgy''; a practice that is characterised by the concept of user participation. This book explains the concept of Systematurgy through a first-person narrative that also offers us an insight into the genesis and form of p

Ediciones Poligrafa Art Strikes Back
For more than two centuries we have heard, again and again, in a most persistent manner, and in many different contexts and situations, that art is dead. We have heard that artistic experience has been overcome or permanently suspended from history. It is said that what began, strictly speaking, with the arrival of the Renaissance has ceased to occupy a significant place within our cultural landscapes. In the field of theory and artistic thought, those who have pondered on or delivered such mortuary statements are countless: from Hegel to Arthur Danto. Despite all this, art resists and persists, time and time again. In the face of every death certificate, art restructures its own parameters to generate a prospect of sense, both internal and external, strong enough to continue to be operational. This fortitude is shaped by proposals from a selection of contemporary artists: Rita Ackermann, Louise Bourgeois, Martin Creed, Subodh Gupta, Thomas Houseago, Paul McCarthy, Dieter Roth, Mira

Ediciones Poligrafa Institute of Contemporary Art Boston: Museum Building Guides
The Institute of Contemporary Art, designed by Diller + Scofidio (now Diller Scofidio + Renfro), was the first new art museum to be built in Boston in a century. Opened in December 2006, the ICA is located on a small parcel of land on Boston Harbor and this is the 25th location for the museum in its 75 year history and its first, permanent, free-standing home. "The ICA's decision to hire Diller + Scofidio reflected our belief in the firm's vision that architecture can shape as well as reflect contemporary experience," stated Jill Medvedow, director of ICA. The architects balanced use of cool and transparent glass with the warmth of wood and the energy of light, as well as their design of spare, flexible spaces for presenting contemporary art, was a revelation for a city and an architectural community. ''Their brilliant and beautiful design of the ICA was a harbinger of change: edgy, bold and breathtaking, transforming the landscape for contemporary art and culture in Boston and for the artists, art and ideas of our time," Medvedow has said. Ediciones Poligrafa Cristina Iglesias
Working towards the melding of her artistic work and the discipline of architecture, Cristina Iglesias has long been preoccupied with exploring notions of space and of a space within a space. The sheer scale of her sculptures invites viewers to walk around and occasionally through her pieces. On a more microscopic level, Iglesias has remained fascinated by details, with data that deliberately distracts or skews the perception of abstract forms. Rich surfaces, such as cast impressions of local and exotic flora, become progressively consuming as the viewer approaches them. This publication is the first mongraph on the artist, and includes a consideration of work done in collaboration with architects Abalos & Herreros and Paul Robbrech. 186 illustrations

Ediciones Poligrafa Tony Oursler
The intelligent irony that resonates through the best-known body of work of the American artist Tony Oursler, namely, his video and projection installations, results from the subtle combination of sound, language, and pop culture images that suffuse it. These elements are thoroughly explored in this monograph, the most extensive publication ever about Oursler and his work. His videos often employ the strangely projected human face to created bizarre contemporary icons and fragmented narratives that, while containing a humorous element, also speak to the dislocation caused by contemporary issues of sex, violence, and power. "Tony Oursler" includes 180 illustrations from his video, sculpture, and mixed-media works on paper, as well as an extensive selection of the artist's own writings. There are also two long conversations between Oursler and the artists Mike Kelley and Dan Graham, which testify to the long-lasting mutual appreciation and collaboration between them. This is a major new publication on the career of one of the most important American artists of the last two decades. 280 illustrations

Ediciones Poligrafa Juan Usle: Works, Writings
The hypersensitivity Usle describes is a kind of visionary state, but it is one that is painful - and memorable precisely because it is painful. When we see certain paintings of Usle's that use bright, intense, searing colours, shouldn't we think of this early encounter with one of those states of being that suddenly and dramatically remove us from our everyday mode of perception - one of those events that teach us that everything we perceive might be perceived entirely differently, given even a small modification of the perceptual apparatus we normally take for granted? There are certain paintings by Usle, very complicated ones, that might well remind us of the experience of peering into a kaleidoscope, and while this is not to say that we are therefore to imagine that we should also find the sight of these paintings painful - far from it! no more than, not having suffered sunstroke, we would find looking through a kaleidoscope painful - it is helpful to be reminded that such experiences, in which there is a visual clamour beyond what we are used to being subject to, may not be easy or comfortable ones, and therefore they are only a step away, albeit a crucial step, from being painful. They are a little too much, and therefore they put pressure on our aesthetic expectations. This is Usle's pictorial equivalent of Rimbaud's famous "dereglement de tous les sens."

Ediciones Poligrafa Domino Canibal
This is a lavishly illustrated overview of the groundbreaking Domino Canibal project in Spain. This superbly illustrated volume provides readers with an engaging and insightful overview of the groundbreaking Domino Canibal project. Very few paintings, less than forty n all, can be attributed with certainty to Vermeer, but each one is a perfectly achieved study of light, colour and space. In this book you will find high quality reproductions of these paintings, each with an explanation and an essay about Vermeer's universe and discoveries. ILLUSTRATIONS 50 images *
