Simon & Schuster Remarkable: Living a Faith Worth Talking About
Senior pastor Brady Boyd draws parallels between the early church at Corinth and today’s culture to illustrate how Christians can stay true to their beliefs and live a loving and faith-filled life—demonstrating a new way to interact with the modern world.Lead pastor of New Life Church Brady Boyd encourages us to look beyond the archetypical pitfalls Christians historically have fallen victim to: Instigators hold an “us-against-you” outlook towards anyone whose beliefs differ from theirs; Isolators go into holy hiding and choose to associate exclusively with those who think like them; and Integrators slide so seamlessly into the surrounding culture that they become ingrained in it. Instead, in this “rousing” work, Boyd “lays out an approach for Christian readers to live out their faith by using the teachings of Paul” (Publishers Weekly). Through Paul’s teachings, Boyd shows us how we can not only learn to hear the Word, but also live it, reclaiming the peace, the freedom, and the joy that we lost by imitating the modern world. Remarkable reminds us that by embracing the vision Paul held for followers of God, we can begin leading truly remarkable lives by letting love guide us every step of the way.

University of Nebraska Press All Our Stories Are Here: Critical Perspectives on Montana Literature
This wide-ranging collection of essays addresses a diverse and expanded vision of Montana literature, offering new readings of both canonical and overlooked texts. Although a handful of Montana writers such as Richard Hugo, A. B. Guthrie Jr., D’Arcy McNickle, and James Welch have received considerable critical attention, sizable gaps remain in the analysis of the state’s ever-growing and ever-evolving canon. The twelve essays in All Our Stories Are Here not only build on the exemplary, foundational work of other writers but also open further interpretative and critical conversations. Expanding on the critical paradigms of the past and bringing to bear some of the latest developments in literary and cultural studies, the contributors engage issues such as queer ambivalence in Montana writing, representations of the state in popular romances, and the importance of the University of Montana’s creative writing program in fostering the state’s literary corpus. The contributors also explore the work of writers who have not yet received their critical due, take new looks at old friends, and offer some of the first explorations of recent works by well-established artists. All Our Stories Are Here conveys a sense of continuity in the field of Western literary criticism, while at the same time challenging conventional approaches to regional literature.

Oxford University Press Inc Handbook of Culture and Memory
In the Handbook of Culture and Memory, Brady Wagoner and his team of international contributors explore how memory is deeply entwined with social relationships, stories in film and literature, group history, ritual practices, material artifacts, and a host of other cultural devices. Culture is seen as the medium through which people live and make meaning of their lives. In this book, analyses focus on the mutual constitution of people's memories and the social-cultural worlds to which they belong. The complex relationship between culture and memory is explored in: the concept of memory and its relation to evolution, neurology and history; life course changes in memory from its development in childhood to its decline in old age; and the national and transnational organization of collective memory and identity through narratives propagated in political discourse, the classroom, and the media.

Stanford University Press Reworking Citizenship
In scenes reminiscent of the apartheid era, 2021 saw South Africa''s streets filled with mass protests. While the country is lauded for its peaceful transition to democracy with citizenship for all, those previously disenfranchised, particularly women, remain outraged by their continued poverty and marginalization. As one black woman protester told a reporter, reflecting on the end of apartheid: We didn''t get freedom. We only got democracy. What obligations do states have to support their citizens? What meaning does citizenship itself hold? Blending archival and ethnographic methods, Brady G''sell tracks how historic resistance to racial and gendered marginalization in South Africa animate present-day contentions that regardless of voting rights, without jobs to support their families, the poor majority remain excluded from the nation. Through long-term fieldwork with impoverished black African, Indian, and coloured (mixed race) women living in the city of Durban, she

Nova Science Publishers Inc Lobsters: Biology, Behavior and Management
Lobsters are marine decapod crustaceans belonging to a diverse array of taxa, many of which support major fisheries of great socioeconomic importance to human communities and play important roles in natural ecosystems. This book contains chapters describing studies of the larval biology, behavior and habitat preferences, and fisheries management of fished clawed and spiny lobster species. Chapter 1 attempted to use a model based on enzyme thermodynamics to estimate and compare the lower and upper threshold temperatures and intrinsic optimum temperature for the development of American lobster larvae. Chapter 2 used an inferential ecomorphological approach incorporating information on the morphology, life history, biotope, and behavior of a selection of 11 decapod species present in European waters to predict the likely natural habitat of small juvenile European lobsters, a critical life stage about which, remarkably, little is known. Chapter 3 used simulation modeling to estimate the impacts of different fisheries harvesting strategies on the catches and socioeconomic values of Caribbean spiny lobster fisheries in different nations, illustrating their sensitivity to heterogeneous fisheries management. These chapters demonstrate new approaches to the study of lobsters that can contribute important information on their biology and fisheries ecology for use in forecasting the potential impacts of changes in climate and fisheries management on their populations and the fisheries they support.

John Wiley and Sons Ltd Sense and Sensitivity: How Focus Determines Meaning
Sense and Sensitivity advances a novel research proposal in the nascent field of formal pragmatics, exploring in detail the semantics and pragmatics of focus in natural language discourse. The authors develop a new account of focus sensitivity, and show that what has hitherto been regarded as a uniform phenomenon in fact results from three different mechanisms. The book Makes a major contribution to ongoing research in the area of focus sensitivity – a field exploring interactions between sound and meaning, specifically the dependency some words have on the effects of focus, such as "she only LIKES me" (i.e. nothing deeper) compared to "she only likes ME" (i.e. nobody else) Discusses the features of the QFC theory (Quasi association, Free association, and Conventional association), a new account of focus implying a tripartite typology of focus-sensitive expressions Presents novel cross-linguistic data on focus and focus sensitivity that will be relevant across a range of linguistic sub-fields: semantics and pragmatics, syntax, and intonational phonology Concludes with a case study of exclusives (like “only”), arguing that the entire existing literature has missed crucial generalizations, and for the first time explaining the focus sensitivity of these expressions in terms of their meaning and discourse function

Harvard University Press The Twenty-Five Years of Philosophy: A Systematic Reconstruction
Kant declared that philosophy began in 1781 with his Critique of Pure Reason. In 1806 Hegel announced that philosophy had now been completed. Eckart Förster examines the reasons behind these claims and assesses the steps that led in such a short time from Kant’s “beginning” to Hegel’s “end.” He concludes that, in an unexpected yet significant sense, both Kant and Hegel were indeed right.“Presents a novel interpretation of the development of German idealism that is rich in both historical depth and philosophical insight…Förster sets forth a historically nuanced and philosophically discerning interpretation of the central debates of the era.”—Peter Yong, Philosophy in Review“[Förster’s] book does not disappoint…The amount of material covered by Förster is impressive…Förster’s book is rich in specificity…Wherever the discussion goes, it is going to have to go on by taking Förster’s big picture and all his detailed accounts into account.”—Terry Pinkard, Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews“Förster’s command of the historical sources is most impressive. Moreover, this book is clearly written, and Bowman’s translation is commendable. Scholars and graduate students will welcome this masterpiece.”—J. M. Fritzman, Choice

John Wiley & Sons Inc Inside Smartgeometry: Expanding the Architectural Possibilities of Computational Design
Smartgeometry (SG) is a key influence on the architectural community who explore creative computational methods for the design of buildings. An informal international network of practitioners and researchers, the group meets annually to experiment with new technologies and collaborate to develop digital design techniques. When SG was founded in 2001 by London-based architects and friends Hugh Whitehead (Foster + Partners), J Parrish (AECOM) and Lars Hesselgren (PLP), there was little in the way of parametric tools for architecture. SG was founded to encourage the development, discussion and experimentation of digital design techniques driven by design intent rather than on construction specifications. SG calls for a re-consideration of the design process, where the creation of computational mechanisms become an integral part of designing – not a task done prior to or separate from the process. In the early years of the workshops this need for new ways of design thinking led to the development of Bentley´s GenerativeComponents software. In recent years, the ecology of these design environments has diversified to include multiple software platforms, as well as innovative fabrication techniques and interactive environments. SG has grown accordingly from a handful of experts to an international network of designers who are defining the future of design. Founded by digital pioneers, it creates the algorithmic designers of the future. Inside Smartgeometry can be seen as a retroactive manifesto for SG, examining and contextualising the work of the SG community: the digital spaces, prototypes and buildings designed using bespoke tools created in response to architectural ideas. From interactive crowd-sourcing tools to responsive agent-based systems to complex digitally fabricated structures, it explores more than a decade of advances that have been influential for architecture. Through 23 original texts including reflections by the founders, and key contributors such as Robert Aish, Martin Bechthold, Mark Burry, Chris Williams and Robert Woodbury, the book offers a critical state of the art of computational design for architecture. Many international design and engineering firms have participated in SG and the book includes chapters by practitioners from offices such as CASE, Design2Production, Foster + Partners, Grimshaw, Populous and SOM.

Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers Contemporary Management of Myeloproliferative Neoplasms
Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) are a group of blood disorders related to leukaemia in which the body makes too many blood cells. MPN originates in the bone marrow - the soft tissue in the middle of the bones, where all the blood cells are made. In patients with MPN, normal blood cell production breaks down and the bone marrow becomes over-active and makes far too many blood cells. This can cause the blood to become thick. MPN can affect any of the blood cells (red, white and platelets) (Leukemia & Lymphona Research). This book is a comprehensive guide to the diagnosis and management of MPN. Beginning with an introduction, the following chapters examine the diagnostic classification, epidemiology, clinical features and treatment of different types of MPN. A complete chapter is dedicated to hematopoietic stem cell transplant in myelofibrosis. Edited by authoritative experts from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, this useful reference is enhanced by detailed images, illustrations and tables.
