I-Go-Books A Generation Apart
Whereas most people barely bat an eyelid when a middle-aged man becomes romantically involved with a girl more than thirty years his junior, a mid¬dle-aged woman who takes on a youth that much younger than her is accused of having a ‘toy boy’. Wendy Forsyth finds herself in that exact pre¬dicament when she finds herself seriously attracted to a neighbour’s son while giving him extra maths lessons. The story describes her fears, worries and emotions in detail as she battles with her unusual conundrum. You’ll likely experience a mixture of reactions as you follow what transpires – at times sympathy with her plight but, at others, criticism of her ac¬tions. But, whatever your response, you’ll find it a fascinating read.

I-Go-Books The khaki boer: When love and loyalty collide
This is a continuation of the love story begun in the author’s previous novel, The Tame Khaki, in which the twenty-year-old Jack Whitelaw set off from his home in Dorset to fight the Boers in the southern tip of Africa. Wounded, he’s taken to a Ladysmith hospital, where falls in love with a beautiful young nurse, Rachel du Toit, a boerenooi, whose father and brothers are all fighting in a Boer commando. The love affair flourishes during the siege`– until Rachel is forced to flee Ladysmith and ends up in a British concentration camp. It’s now March 1902 and the war is virtually over. Shortly before Jack sailed for home, Rachel forgave him for his part in Milner’s `scorched earth policy’ and he returns to Pietermaritzburg determined to win her hand in marriage. His blissful life with his lovely wife and two little children on a farm in the Natal Midlands begins to transform when Britain declares war against Germany and his deep sense of loyalty to his excolleagues and The Old Country kicks in. Rachel is at first fiercely opposed to him again donning a British uniform but eventually relents, knowing Jack will continue to feel powerful pangs of guilt if he doesn’t. You’ll become deeply engrossed – at times saddened – by what occurs next.

I-Go-Books Bring Butterflies Back to Your Garden
Bring butterflies back is a follow-up to the much acclaimed bring nature back to your garden by the same authors. It is unique in being the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of information on all indigenous South African butterfly larval food-plants. The book emphasises the contribution people can make to nature by actually providing food for caterpillars, giving practical examples. It includes a chapter with the Latin and common names of all our approximately 670 butterfly species. There is an intriguing further chapter on bizarre butterfly lifestyles: few people know, for example, that some butterfly larvae are carnivorous and abuse the hospitality of ants which host them, by eating their unsuspecting offspring. Most useful are descriptions of over 500 plants selected by our butterflies themselves. All known indigenous larval food-plants are included.

I-Go-Books Growing up in white South Africa
This story of a middle-class white South African family unfolds between the years 1939 and 1964 - a transformative period in South Africa's political landscape. It is told through the eyes and experiences of the younger son and his rite of passage into a country of racial segregation that gradually opens his eyes to the many injustices imposed upon the majority of the country's population, coupled with a realization that his white privileges are sustained at the brutal expense of others.

I-Go-Books Bring nature back to your garden
This book motivates gardeners to adopt a completely different mindset: instead of growing foreign plants and killing perceived pests, gardeners can benefit from planting indigenous vegetation with the object of actually attracting insects and other garden wildlife. It illustrates how easy it is to work with nature instead of against it. Not just another gardening book, it encourages gardeners to help preserve and restore our fast-disappearing natural heritage. In this way they can contribute to conservation right on their own doorsteps, while deriving great pleasure in the process. Virtually every aspect of environmentally-friendly gardening is covered, making it a complete "how to" guide and debunking some long-held myths. Winner of a University of KwaZulu-Natal book prize, the first edition was out of print for several years after all 15 000 copies had been sold. This new edition, which covers the eastern and northern parts of the country, is a greatly improved version of the much acclaimed original. Besides being expanded to 320 pages with much more information, it has nearly 100 colour pictures and almost twice as many black and white illustrations. The same lighthearted and entertaining style has been retained and technical terms have been avoided, thus making it an easy read. The book is enhanced by delightful humorous drawings that emphasise points made in the text. A must for all nature-loving gardeners, the large amount of information is almost encyclopedic and will also be more than useful to conservationists and anyone with an interest in the natural sciences.

I-Go-Books In Your Stride
The world's oldest and greatest ultra-marathon, the Comrades Marathon is a South African institution that is internationally-recognised for the body-sapping challenge it poses and the camaraderie it fosters among its thousands of participants from all over the world. Run between the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, and the coastal city of Durban, the race alternates annually between the up run from Durban and the down run from Pietermaritzburg. It was born from an idea dreamed up by First World War veteran Vic Clapham, who wanted a living memorial to those South African soldiers killed in the Great War. Clapham, who had endured a 2 700-kilometre route march through sweltering German East Africa, wanted the memorial to be a unique test of the physical endurance of the entrants. The constitution of the race states that one of its primary aims is to "celebrate mankind's spirit over adversity". First run in 1921, the Comrades Marathon has been held every year since, except from 1941 to 1945 when it was stopped during the Second World War, and in 2020-21, due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic. Thirty-four runners entered the first race; today over 20 000 athletes sign up each year to test their endurance in this iconic ultra-marathon, which has become known as the "Ultimate Human Race". It captures the story and the images of this remarkable event, spanning 100 years, which appeals not only to runners but to those captivated by the triumph of the human spirit. Spiced with stories of bygone days and fun anecdotes, the book also looks at everything that goes into making this massive event a smoothly-run, world-leading exhibition of the best that South Africa has to offer.

I-Go-Books The Irish Boer woman
The Irish Boer Woman is the second volume of the Brigid O'Meara trilogy (the first part was England Wants Your Gold printed in 2015) that follows the life of an adventurous young Irish woman who is drawn into the intrigues and violence of the Jameson Raid of 1895, and later incarcerated in a British concentration camp during the Anglo Boer War for assisting active Boer commandos. She is drawn into the conflict of the Anglo Boer War by identifying and entering the struggle of the Boers of the Transvaal to retain their independence, putting her into direct conflict with British authorities representing an expanding global empire. Adding to her emotional turmoil is her romantic involvement with a British Uitlander, who is facing charges of high treason by the Transvaal Boer Government.
