Der christliche arabische Dichter al-Ahṭal (um 640-710 n. Chr.) gilt als einer der Meister der Qaṣīdendichtung in der Epoche der Umaiyaden. Vor dem Hintergrund der Diskussion um die Struktur der Gattung der Qaṣīde und ihrer Entwicklung in der Umaiyadenzeit steht die Untersuchung zu Bau und Funktion der berühmtesten Lobqaṣīde al-Ahṭals, haffa l-qaṭīn, im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit.
