ACC Art Books Norman Foster
"A very inspiring book that shows that visions do not have to be castles in the air..." — Lovely Books Germany "The clouds the limit: an opulent book as an appreciation for a big-thinking designer." — Sueddeutsche Zeitung Norman Foster is a globally recognised figure in architecture. His agency has created more than 300 projects around the world, many of which have profoundly marked and transformed the cities and landscapes in which they reside. This new monograph, published in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, presents more than 80 of Foster’s key projects, from the Cockpit (1964), a private house in Cornwall, through to Spaceport America (2006-2014), the world’s first terminal for space tourists, built in the desert landscape of New Mexico. Each project is illustrated with drawings, sketches and photographs, placed alongside insightful text. The book also features an essay by Frédéric Migayrou, curator of an attendant Centre Pompidou exhibition on Foster; a biography by celebrated architectural critic, Philip Jodidio; and an extensive interview with Foster himself. Foster has also contributed an anthology of six analytical texts, written across the broad span of his career.

Prestel Frank Gehry
Arranged chronologically, this book follows the arc of Gehry's later career, during which he has focused mainly on public and cultural facilities. The book explores how Gehry has overcome technological setbacks and aesthetic backlash, never wavering from his vision. It examines his work in the context of the urban environment, showing how Gehry continually strives to make cities "less boring" and to create urban buildings that echo their surroundings. The buildings profiled here - including the Vitra International Furniture Manufacturing Facility and Design Museum in Switzerland, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the 8 Spruce Street Skyscraper (Beekman Tower) in New York, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton - are represented in dazzling colour photographs as well as preparatory drawing, plans and models. From his early years working within the L.A. Art Scene, to his Pritzker-winning stardom, to his current fascination with the application of computer-aided-design in such areas as cancer research, Frank Gehry, now in his ninth decade, continues to surprise and inspire the public. This informative, fascinating volume is a must-have for his ardent fans and anyone interested in architecture.

Phaidon Press Ltd Odile Decq, Cornette Benoit
Odile Decq and Benoit Cornette first rose to international prominence with their administrative and social centre buildings for the Banque Populaire de l'Ouest in Rennes in 1990, which has won 10 architectural awards. Based in Paris, they featured in the French "40 under 40" exhibition in 1990 and have since been successful in many European competitions, recently completing two housing schemes in Paris, and working on large-scale urban projects such as their 1994 commission to design the masterplan for the revitalization of the docks at Paris' Port de Gennevilliers. Although Decq and Cornette have been variously described as post-modernist, deconstructionist and high-tech, their architecture is difficult to categorize: the distinctive hallmark of their architecture is their use of metal, for its precision, and sophisticated engineering techniques. This book charts the architects' working process in over 20 buildings and projects, featuring their highly original models, which use colour as a coding system for materials and structural elements, and have an architectural significance in their own right.
