Each day, he and his barnyard friends practice their writing and math. But when the school bus rolls up, they are booted off. It turns out that animals aren’t allowed to attend school. Pig calls it “hogwash,” and Turkey agrees. All he has to do is find a way to show the students and the principal that turkeys—and their friends—do belong in school. Little, Brown Book Group The Turkish Embassy Letters
The critical and biographical introduction tells of Lady Wortley Montagu's travels through Europe to Turkey in 1716, where her husband had been appointed Ambassador. Her lively letters offer insights into the paradoxical freedoms conferred on Muslim women by the veil, the value of experimental work by Turkish doctors on inoculation, and the beauty of Arab poetry and culture. The ability to study another culture according to its own values and to see herself through the eyes of others makes Lady Mary one of the most fascinating of early travel writers and commentators

Bitter Lemon Press Divorce Turkish Style
Kati owns Istanbul's only mystery book store and, as usual, gets involved in a case that is none of her business. Every day, a beautiful woman lunches alone in the restaurant next to the bookstore. When the woman is found dead in her apartment, Kati immediately recognizes the stranger from the restaurant in images in the newspaper photos. Although the police believe it was an accident, Kati suspects something more sinister has happened. Sani Ankaraligil was an attractive young woman, in the middle of a divorce from her wealthy husband and a politically active ecologist. So who would benefit from her death? The industrial companies Sani had accused of polluting the rivers of Western Turkey, or her jealous husband seeking revenge through an honour killing, or a Thracian separatist group? The investigation pulls Kati into the murkiest of waters.

University of Toronto Press Russias Turkish Wars
Russia’s Turkish Wars examines the changing place of the Balkan population in Russian military thought, strategic planning, and occupation policies. It reveals choices made by the tsarist strategists and commanders during the Russian-Ottoman wars, reflecting a general reconceptualization of the role of the people in modern warfare that took place during the nineteenth century. The book explores the tsarist military’s engagement with the population of the Balkans in the wake of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. It draws on previously unpublished materials from Russian archives as well as a broad range of published primary sources. Victor Taki recounts the discussions among Russian military men and the international relations of the nineteenth century. Russia’s Turkish Wars ultimately provides a new perspective on both military change and Imperial Russia’s Balkan entanglements.

Pluto Press Turkey Reframed: Constituting Neoliberal Hegemony
The first decade of the 2000s was a period of radical change in Turkish society and politics, marked by the major economic crisis of 2001 and the coming to power of ex-Islamist cadres organised under the Justice and Development Party (AKP). As the 'Turkish model' gains traction across the Middle East, this chronicle of Turkey's recent history dispels some important myths. This period of radical change, with its continuities and breaks, pays close attention to the AKP, the main actor in the creation of a neoliberal hegemony in post-1980 Turkey. The contributors map relations between the AKP and the Kurdish people, the evolution of Turkish nationalism under the AKP and look at how everyday politics, from social welfare to housing, have been effected by the AKP's 'stabilisation strategy'. What is revealed is modern Turkey's conflictual, turbulent and painful recent histories, which vary wildly from the national myths that sustain neoliberal hegemony in the country.
