This edition ensures the legacy of the original 1950 classic, Process Heat Transfer, by Donald Q. Kern that by many is held to be the gold standard. This second edition book is divided into three parts: Fundamental Principles; Heat Exchangers; and Other Heat Transfer Equipment/ Considerations. Part I provides a series of chapters concerned with introductory topics that are required when solving heat transfer problems. This part of the book deals with topics such as steady-state heat conduction, unsteady-state conduction, forced convection, free convection, and radiation. Part II is considered by the authors to be the "meat" of the book, and the primary reason for undertaking this project. Other than minor updates, Part II remains relatively unchanged from the first edition. Elizabeth Lawrence (1904–85) is recognized as one of America’s most important gardeners and garden writers. Breast-Feeding: Early Influences on Later Health is a new book which draws together areas of research in early lifel programming of adult health, with a unique focus on the post-natal period in terms of early life programming particularly the extent to which differences in infant feeding practices can lay an indelible imprint on metabolism and behaviour, and hence affect later function and risk of disease. This is an area where there is much less information currently available than there is for fetal programming, and the book raises many new questions and highlights numerous areas where further research is needed. In the past decade, an increasing volume of psychological research has been conducted on social exclusion by social and developmental psychologists. The very best of this new body of work is showcased in this volume, providing an understanding of how children experience, evaluate, and understand exclusion as well as inclusion. For interventions to be effective, programs designed to ameliorate social problems associated with exclusion need to be based on an understanding of how, why, and under what conditions, social groups make decisions to exclude others, how children experience this exclusion, and how this originates and changes over the course of the lifespan. This volume draws together and foregrounds social and developmental psychological research to show its central relevance to the social exclusion of children.

But its origins are mysterious: who were its makers? its users? how was it made? what end did it serve? The essays in this collection define the parameters of present-day Auchinleck studies.
