Following on from requests for more assembly ideas Andrew has come up with 'Assembly Tomorrow'. This book features a mix of age appropriate stories (moral, multicultural, bible and fables) and provides all the stimulus material needed for 30 assemblies. Some of the stories are illustrated with silhouettes; these can be photocopied to enable the headteacher/presenter to present the story using an overhead projector. Other stories have simple illustrations that can be copied on to acetate and used as a focal point for the assembly. The assemblies are organised chronologically in seasonal themes and the teacher's notes provide additional background information. Taking a life-course approach, the book begins with analyses of the ways in which fatphobia is enacted on pregnant (or even not-yet-pregnant) women, whose bodies immediately become viewed as objects warranting external control by not only medical professionals, but family members, and even passers-by. The story unfolds as adults recount childhood stories of growing up fat, or growing up in fear of being fat, and how their mothers' relationships with their own bodies and attempted weight-loss experiences shaped how food, exercise, and body management were approached in their homes in sometimes harmful ways. Finally, the book concludes with stories of women who have since become mothers, examining the ways in which having their own children altered their views on their own bodies and their perceptions of their mothers' actions, and working to find fat-friendly futures via their own parenting (or grand-parenting) techniques.

In the early twentieth century, most Chinese immigrants coming to the United States were detained at the Angel Island Immigration Station in San Francisco Bay. There, they were subject to physical exams, interrogations, and often long detentions aimed at upholding the exclusion laws that kept Chinese out of the country. Many detainees recorded their anger and frustrations, hopes and despair in poetry written and carved on the barrack walls. Since the civil war of the 1970s, Cambodia has suffered devastating upheavals that killed a million ' people and exiled hundreds of thousands.
