These etudes were selected through Dr. Hague's extensive study of all available Czerny etudes. Her goal was to find musically interesting and pianistically satisfying pieces at this level. The editors have found that the study of Czerny etudes is enjoyable for students and yields enormous benefits for pianistic and musical development. La typologie des langues est aujourd'hui une dicipline en plein essor. Ce volume reunit les articles les plus importants produits par l'auteur au cours de quelque vingt-cinq ans d'exploration des langues les plus diverses. Ces etudes abordent quelques questions fondamentales: nature des categories grammaticales, classes de mots, syntaxe de la proposition, definition du sujet et de l'objet, temps, aspect et mode, articulation theme-rheme, quete des universaux, problemes methodologiques et terminologiques. L'option theorique se situe resolument dans la tradition saussurienne et s'inspire de la pensee d'Emile Benveniste. They deal mainly with wall-paintings, a field in which the author has specialized. In its richness and "diversity, the archaeological documentation preserved in Cappadocia provides important evidence for the society and religious life of the Byzantine province (subsequently, from the end of the 11th century, part of the Seljuk sultanate of Rum). Although often little known to art historians, these monuments are of great importance for the history of Byzantine art, in particular for the period of the ninth and tenth centuries.
