Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Cruising Galicia
This new title covers the extensive cruising area of Galicia in the north west of Spain from Ribadeo to Bayona, where the beautiful rias provide shelter from the Atlantic in picturesque harbours and remote anchorages. The authors have spent several seasons cruising in the area and making use of their local connections have produced a modern guide that provides in-depth information necessary for yachts spending time visiting the rias and ports of Galicia. Annotated town plans covering over 90 destinations show shore-side facilities and recommended restaurants and side panels provide advice on interesting places to visit, local customs and features of interest. Carlos Rojas has sailed yachts since 2000, a short but intensive career during which he has crossed the Atlantic, cruised in the Pacific, made several passages across Biscay and sailed to Ireland and France. His professional involvement in technology companies as an engineer, manager and director has given him an insight into design and usability that he applies to his pilot books. Carlos has lived most of his life in Britain but he is originally from Spain, a country that he knows well, naming Galicia as one of his favourite areas. Robert Bailey was brought up in a sailing family. Over a period of 35 years, and with the aid of a Nicholson 32 and Rustler 36, much of the coastline of the north western approaches to Europe, from the Faroe Islands in the north to the Morbihan in the south, were avidly explored. In 2001 he adopted a more flexible approach to his career as an aerospace engineer and this allowed him to take up cruising instruction. He is now a Yachtmaster Instructor.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Ionian: Corfu, Levkas, Cephalonia, Zakinthos and the adjacent mainland coast to Finakounda
Like its companions West Aegean and East Aegean, Ionian is ideal for charterers and flotilla sailors who are onboard for a relatively short time, but also for longer term cruisers on their own yachts who are looking for additional pilotage and background information for this popular cruising ground. As with all the Heikell guides, Ionian not only gives all the essential information you need but also exudes the charm and flavour of this corner of the Mediterranean. 'Heikell's style is easy to digest and gives pleasure in the details of the history, geography and social circumstances of the places described as well as the essential sailing information.' The Little Ship 'This book, as well as being a practical manual on Ionian cruising, seems to have absorbed much of the author's personal feelings regarding the charm which draws him back to it, and any reader who has had a whiff of the magic spell of the Greek islands will sense this, and inevitably renew the resolve to return and experience it once again in greater measure.' Nautical Magazine 'Rod Heikell nowadays is to the Mediterranean as gin is to tonic. It is difficult to imagine sailing there without one of his guides. Clear pilot notes, chartlets and plentiful illustrations, with entertaining commentaries on each place. Up-to-date observations on local and national regulations. The new edition does not disappoint. If one must choose, I would have no hesitation in recommending Heikell.' Cruising Association 'Rod has a knack for dropping in snippets of interest and colour to give the reader a feel for the atmosphere of each port or bay.' Yachting Monthly 'Like all Rod Heikell's pilots, it is also a travel guide in its own right.' Ionian Magazine 'The sailing directions are particularly useful when entering the smaller anchorages and harbours, for which little information is to be found on charts, and include excellent harbour plans and top quality aerial photographs.' Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Inland Waterways of Belgium: 2005
There has not been a guide in English to the Inland Waterways of Belgium since E E Benest's handbook went out of print in the early 1960's. Jacqueline Jones' new guide provides detailed coverage for anyone interested in this under-rated waterway network. It is a fascinating cruising area in it's own right, with contrasting canals and navigable rivers that thread their way across both the lowlands of Flanders and the massif of the Ardennes. The Belgian waterways link Northern France with the Netherlands and Germany and this work will be essential for boats crossing borders. Jacqueline Jones's new waterway-by-waterway guide provides all the essential information for navigation, as well as details about things to do and places to see in Belgium's historic cities. Fully illustrated with clear maps and the author's photography, this book is a must for anyone cruising Belgium or en-route to the French or Dutch canals. This book comes with a folded map of the Belgian Waterways System.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd The Baltic Sea and Approaches
This 4th edition has been produced by a team from the Royal Cruising Club and contains substantial changes. Apart from the routine updating of the text and plans – many newly drawn for this edition – and the addition of new photos, there are also some major changes. In particular coverage of Finland has been reorganized, and reflecting the fast pace of change since the last edition, the Baltic States and Poland sections have been improved significantly. The nine countries bordering the Baltic Sea offer an immense variety of cruising grounds, people and cultures. There are thousands of harbours and innumerable anchorages, and it would take an entire bookshelf, to cover them all in detail. The information contained in this book is therefore selective. It has been chosen for its value both at the planning stages - preparing the yacht, choosing the most suitable route, timing and communications etc - and again on arrival, when a general overview of each individual country is followed by specific harbour information. Where detailed cruising information is readily available - effectively Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland - only selected harbours are covered, chosen, with a few exceptions, as fulfilling certain key needs. Where cruising information is more limited - Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia - many smaller harbours are also featured in detail. In addition to comprehensive suggestions for further reading (and sources in each country from which they may be ordered) more than 200 websites are listed, again chosen for their relevance both at the planning stages and en route. In order to facilitate the latter, as well as for general communication, details of internet access points are included for most major harbours. Beautiful, secluded anchorages, picturesque canals, bustling marinas, dramatic cities - all await those considering a Baltic cruise.

With thoroughly updated text and plans and new photographs throughout, The Wash and Humber remains an essential companion to this interesting and rewarding section of our coastline.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Hidden Harbours of Southwest Scotland
Hidden Harbours of Southwest Scotland is a lively tour of small and infrequently visited harbours on the stunning Scottish coast and its nearby islands, starting from Port Logan in the south and meandering northwards to Lerags on Loch Feochan in the Firth of Lorn. The southwest coast of Scotland is one of the most beautiful cruising areas in the world, combining dramatic scenery with interesting history and landmarks. Many of its shores are lined with old castles and the magnificent historical houses of rich industrialists, reflecting its significance as an area of busy trade. The more recent military developments, which include a wartime torpedo base at Loch Long and the naval headquarters at Faslane on Gare Loch, also have a significant presence. Small harbours further south were shaped by the trade in natural resources and the flow of passengers via Clyde Puffer boats to and from nearby cities such as Glasgow and beyond. Each hidden harbour, many of which are simple but attractive piers or shipways built to support trade, has a story to tell. The book includes a historical overview plus notes on what is to be found at each, alongside full colour photographs and annotated aerial shots. This edition complements the other Hidden Harbours titles in the series by Dag Pike.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Mediterranean Weather Handbook for Sailors
'Mediterranean Weather Handbook for Sailors' is an indispensable reference providing a general understanding of the various phenomena concurring to determine weather in the Mediterranean as well as useful forecasting aids. It is written for sailors, not meteorologists; theory is kept to a minimum, while every effort is made to provide clear interpretative tools that are helpful in understanding actual weather and forecasting. Roberto Ritossa is a meteorology expert and this handbook is a result of many years research on Mediterranean weather patterns. This second edition includes details of new and changed websites that offer meteorological services. Throughout the graphics have been improved and for some sections additional illustrations have been added. "Roberto Ritossa has produced an excellent weather text book for those who choose to sail in the Mediterranean. Although it claims to be 'written for sailors, not meteorologists' there is more than enough essential theory to satisfy the keenest of amateur meteorologists. I would certainly buy a copy if I were to ever plan to return to the Mediterranean, as a sailor." - IG, Cruising.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Bulgaria and Romania Cruising Guide
'Cruising Bulgaria and Romania' aims to encourage many more yachtsmen to discover the pleasures of cruising the Lower Danube and the western Black Sea, to visit the ports and harbours (both antique and modern) and the miles of unspoilt beaches in these fascinating areas. For the visiting yachtsman, the cruising areas of Bulgaria and Romania, the River Danube, parts of the Black Sea coast, and (in Romania) the Danube delta (a special area in its own right), offer an interesting diversity. Despite being close geographical neighbours, Bulgaria and Romania are culturally very different. Bulgaria shares the Orthodox religion and Slavic cultural roots of Russia and Serbia, whereas Romania is a country with Latin cultural traditions similar to other western Mediterranean countries. Srebarna Lake, the North Romanian Black Sea coast, Kamchia and Strandja and the Danube Delta are internationally important as nature reserves and as homes to some rare and endangered species. The River Danube is one of Europe's most ancient thoroughfares, but between Vienna and Bratislava the number of vessels on the river drops dramatically and the area is still relatively unknown to foreign boats. Nicky Allardice has lived and worked in both countries and his guide is based on extensive first-hand experience.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Shetland Islands Pilot
Well known to ancient Norse mariners, the Shetland Islands offer a fascinating cruising ground for today's less warlike sailors. There are numerous beautiful, if sometimes rugged anchorages, many harbours and several marinas all of which create a variety that ensures that one visit to these islands will not be the last. Natural scenery apart, one function of the ongoing drive to attract tourism is a strong appreciation of the benefits brought by visiting yachts, and this, coupled with the natural and very welcoming grace of the Shetland people, ensures a hugely warm welcome. Summer is the time to cruise these islands, one added benefit of their Northern location is the almost constant daylight, making both sightseeing and pilotage much more enjoyable. Summer is also the time when many of the island's towns and villages hold their annual festivals, often including yacht races and much waterborne hilarity. That is not to say that a visit in winter should be avoided; the annual festival of 'Up Helly Aa' at the end of January is an experience not to be missed. The riotous enthusiasm with which the ever-friendly Shetland Islanders share their annual celebration of Shetland history is likely to draw summer visitors back time and time again. Gordon Buchanan knows the Shetland Islands from visits over many years and presents detailed pilotage information on reaching and cruising this delightful area.

Imray, Laurie, Norie & Wilson Ltd Channel Islands, Cherbourg Peninsula & North Brittany: Cruising St Vaast to Ouessant: 2023
This revision of the RCC Pilotage Foundation''s pilot updates the combined volume for this area which encompasses the Channel Islands and extends from St Vaast La Hougue on the east of the Cherbourg peninsula, and works westwards along the Normandy and Brittany coasts to Ouessant. Coverage includes the Plateau des Roches Douvres as well as detailed sections on the navigable rivers. The navigator benefits enormously from the painstaking approach with which Peter Carnegie has documented his own explorations of these, his home waters. His numerous annotated photographs and the many accompanying charts detail the network of transits between the off-lying rocks and islands of the region. Waypoints are used judiciously to further inform, but the emphasis remains on time-proven and trusted methods of safe navigation in these waters of high tidal range and fast-moving currents. The Channel Islands, Normandy and Brittany coasts can seem a daunting sailing area for those unaccustomed to their ways, but 'Carnegie's book provides reassurance and so much practical advice that anyone using it will feel confident of success.'' (Yachting Monthly). It is the definitive pilot for anyone interested in the challenge of exploring the less frequently used passages and anchorages.

The book is divided into three parts: The first part gives general information and advice, and in passing, mentions local rules which will be relevant . The second part lists many places the names of which you might read or hear on the radio. The third part outlines the types of hazard you will encounter as you make your way up river on a fold-out chart

Aerial photographs by Patrick Roach. The South coasts of Devon and Cornwall are the first or the last many mariner has of England. Whether running up-channel, bound east for London and Northern Europe, or beating ever westwards out into the stormy Atlantic, these shores have been a haven, a guide, and occasionally, the source of ruin. All we who have made the traverse or have sought shelter in the multitude of harbours between Portland Bill and the Isles of Scilly, have had to carry out our pilotage from the decks of a vessel of some sort. How often we have longed for the wings of a sea eagle, to see what we cannot see. Powered flight has finally given us this chance, and Patrick Roach, the maestro of the airbourne camera has so excelled himself with this series of images that our mutual friend the publisher has had little choice but to bind us into one volume to share the wonders he has revealed. So stretch out your wings, give a wild seagull's cry, and let's take to the skies together, bound out for the far west.
