Nova Science Publishers Inc Myelodysplastic Syndrome: From Diagnosis to Treatment
In this compilation, the authors review the biological aspects of myelodysplastic syndrome disease, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as innovations involving genetics and new treatment perspectives. Myelodysplastic syndromes are a heterogeneous group of clonal haematopoietic stem cells disorders characterized by dysplasia, as well as peripheral blood cytopenias with a hypercellular marrow and ineffective hematopoiesis. Myelodysplastic syndromes are frequently associated with acute and chronic inflammation, and autoimmune disorders such as: rheumatoid arthritis, bowel disease, diverse types of vasculitis, autoimmune anemias, several rheumatic and skin disorders, and certain thyroid disorders. Spliceosome mutations are the most frequent mutations found in blood and bone marrow cells of myelodysplastic syndromes patients. As such, the authors explore the four predominant splicing factor genes: SF3B1, SFRS2, U2AF1, ZRSR2. Subsequently, this collection discusses the CSNK1A1 gene in the context of myelodysplastic syndromes. It is located at 5q32 within the deleted region, which encodes for casein kinase 1α (CK1α). CK1α is a component of a multiprotein β-catenin destruction complex that regulates Wnt/β-catenin and p53 pathways. The concluding study focuses on the mutations in epigenetic modifiers occur which myelodysplastic syndromes and drive this disease, such as: DNA methylation, histone acetylation, and RNA interference that alters gene expression.

Manchester University Press Women, Travel and Identity: Journeys by Rail and Sea, 1870–1940
The years between 1870 and 1940 are often considered a 'golden age' of travel: as larger and evermore sumptuous ships and trains were built, including the Orient Express, Blue Train, Lusitania and Normandie, journeying abroad became, and remains today, synonymous with chic, splendour and luxury. Utilising women's diaries and letters, art, advertising, fiction and etiquette guides, this book considers the journey's impact upon understandings of female identity, definitions of femininity, modernity, glamour, class, travel, tourism, leisure and sexual opportunity and threat during this period. It explores women's relationship with train and ship technology; cultural understandings of the journey; public expectations of women journeyers; how women journeyed in practice: their use of journey space, sociability with both Western and 'Other' non-Western journeyers, experience of love, sex and danger during the journey; and how women fashioned a journeyer identity which fused their existing domestic identities with new journey identities such as the journey chronicler. The journey is revealed to be an experience of sociability as much as mobility, dominated by ideas of respectability and reputation, class, power, vision and observation and home as well as the foreign and new.

The Emma Press Malkin: An Ellegy in 15 Spels: 2015
Malkin is a vivid evocation of the trials of the Pendle Witches in 1612. The sequence of poems is delivered in the form of epitaphic monologues, with the accused men and women eerily addressing the reader with their confessions and pleas. Strikingly, Camille Ralphs has employed unorthodox spelling throughout the monologues, bringing out new meanings in familiar words and encouraging the reader to immerse themselves in the world of the poems. Fully illustrated with woodcut-style drawings from Emma Wright.
