Rizzoli International Publications Bringing Nature Home: Floral Arrangements Inspired by Nature
Unlike most flower-arrangement books, which rely on expensive and often nonseasonal flowers from florists, this book presents an alternative that is in line with the “back to nature” movement. This is the first volume to showcase how to be inspired by nature’s seasonal bounty and bring that nature into the home through floral arrangements. From the well-known lifestyle photographer Ngoc Minh Ngo and Nicolette Owen of Brooklyn’s Little Flower School, Bringing Nature Home presents a portfolio of unique and original floral arrangements directly inspired by the seasons and the local environment, with sources ranging from farmers’ market offerings to the backyard garden. Presented through lush photography that also showcases the beautiful interiors the arrangements are created for, this is as much a decorating tome as it is a floral-arrangement guide. A how-to section offers advice on the selection, trimming, and care of the arrangements and on repurposed and unique containers, making this book practical as well as inspiring.

Rizzoli International Publications Simple Nature: 150 New Recipes for Fresh, Healthy Dishes
Alain Ducasse s Nature series of cookbooks makes eating healthfully on a daily basis both simple and pleasurable. Ducasse dispels the idea that French food is defined by complicated techniques, time- consuming recipes, and loads of butter and cream. Along with nutritionist Paule Neyrat and chef Christophe Saintagne, he shows how going back to basics means rediscovering the pleasures of sustainable, seasonal French food with maximum nutrition and flavour. The recipes are first and foremost delicious, but they are also healthy and respectful of natural resources and stress sustainable practices which is why animal protein is de-emphasized (as well as salt and sugar, too) in favour of more vegetables, more legumes, and more grains, leaving meat and fish to be used sparingly if at all, as many of the recipes are vegetarian for flavour. This volume takes a more holistic approach to mealtime and includes tips and ideas for reusing leftovers and reducing waste.

Rizzoli International Publications Humphry Repton: Designing the Landscape Garden
Widely acknowledged as the last great landscape designer of the eighteenth century, Humphry Repton created work that survives as a bridge between the picturesque theory of Capability Brown and the pastoral philosophy of Frederick Law Olmsted. By turns inspired by and in opposition to the grandeur of Brown s estates, Repton s contribution to the British landscape encompassed a tremendous range, from subtle adjustments that emphasised the natural features of the countryside to deliberate interventions that challenged the notion of the picturesque. This remarkable book explores 15 of Repton s most celebrated landscapes from the early maturity of his gardens at Courteenhall and Mulgrave Castle to more adventurous landscapes at Stanage, Brightling, and Endsleigh that would point the way toward how we envision parkland today. With photography by Joe Cornish commissioned specially for the book, and including reproductions of key illustrations and plans for garden design from the famous red books that shed light on Repton s vision and process, this book illuminates some of Britain s most beautiful gardens and parks and the masterful mind behind their creation.

Rizzoli International Publications Helen Frankenthaler: Drawing within Nature, Paintings from the 1990s
Helen Frankenthaler: Drawing within Nature documents an exhibition of Frankenthaler s sumptuous paintings from the early to mid-1990s, many shown in New York for the first time. This catalog documents an exhibition that focuses on Helen Frankenthaler s paintings on canvas of the early 1990s, along with three large-scale paintings on paper from 1995. In this period, Frankenthaler experimented with new mediums and techniques, resulting in thickly impastoed surfaces that recalibrate our understanding of her practice. A new essay by Thomas Crow examines these paintings in the context of the varied environments in which Frankenthaler lived and worked, from the warm-toned terrain of Santa Fe, New Mexico, to her seaside home and studio in Stamford, Connecticut. Helen Frankenthaler (1928 2011) has long been recognized as one of the great American artists of the twentieth century. A member of the second generation of postwar American abstract painters, she is widely credited with expanding the possibilities of abstraction through her invention of the soak-stain technique, while at times referencing figuration and landscape in highly personal ways.

The slipcased edition includes an six-page booklet with an introduction by the British Library’s lead curator who explain the history and enduring significance of the First Folio.First printed in 1623, the First Folio presents thirty-six of Shakespeare’s plays in one volume and is the only source for eighteen of his plays. Without it, works such as The Tempest, Twelfth Night and Macbeth would be lost. Also, the First Folio introduced the now familiar organization into comedies, histories, and tragedies. Of the 750 copies originally produced, only some 200 remain today.Interestingly, no two copies are identical and few surviving First Folios are complete. One work, Troilus and Cressida, appears in some copies but not others. Printing stopped and started due to finances, so corrections were made throughout the print run.
