HENI Publishing MadC: Color Rhythms
Launched at the start of 2022, MadC’s 'Color Rhythms' is a collection of 1,000 unique NFTs innovatively produced by a generative algorithm, machine learning and hand curation that allowed the hand of the artist to be captured and replicated digitally, from the instinctual choice of color and chance splashes of paint to the sharp pull of a paintbrush on canvas. The variations between each artwork image have been quantified and labelled by a number of rarities such as form, density, color, number of colors and monochrome. Each of these categories is then assigned different parameters for each work to make up the expressive forms and evocative color palettes that characterize this collection. The complete collection of 1,000 works will be published by HENI in a substantial, compact, small-format hardback book. Complete with a visual index, the book is designed in close collaboration and with an introduction by the artist herself and printed in a limited run of 1,000 copies, each numbered and signed.

The Neulobeda district is a densely populated area characterised by high-rise concrete buildings and modernist urban planning. This urban landscape was to have a profound effect on the young Moritz, which would later manifest itself in her work. While studying at the Offenbach University of Art and Design, Moritz began drawing her memories of Lobeda. The first body of her drawings from the early 1990s is published here. Moritz sketches the bus stations, tramways and high-rise blocks of Lobeda. Details are included of windows, balconies and entranceways overlooking roads and pavements meandering between them. Inside, communal stairwells with winding banisters lead to private living spaces furnished with chairs, beds, table lamps and coat pegs that are etched in the artist’s memory.

This publication presents Moritz s latest work: a collection of drawings and paintings of helicopters created between 2002 and 2013. The Helicopter series has arisen from Moritz s interest in the shift in their symbolic meaning. They are based on images of helicopters from newspapers and television that the artist transferred into her own language. The outcome is a series of beautiful drawings and paintings that range from objective depictions of helicopters to more poetic compositions. In JENA Düsseldorf, first published in 2011, we follow Sabine Moritz and her artistic development, which began in 1989 at Offenbach University of Art and Design and continued in 1991 at the fine arts academy Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Following the publication of Lobeda in 2010, a collection of homogenous early drawings, the pictures featured in JENA Düsseldorf have greater diversity in terms of content and form reflecting Moritz steady progression as an artist. The book also features a conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist in which Moritz talks about her personal life, her memories and makes reference to specific works. The modest and compact book, packed with over 200 colour illustrations, shows by way of example her search for an artistic position on her route from Jena to Düsseldorf.

HENI Publishing Twenty Entities
This fascinating volume showcases the work of British artist, poet and performer Liz Finch and presents a series of 25 sculptures created between 1975 and 2016. The gentle figures are strangely familiar, built using found and made objects that might otherwise be discarded. Knitted limbs and faces with stitched or collaged features are affixed to torsos made from cardboard boxes that are plastered with papier-mâché and painted. The fragile bodies are then suspended on pieces of frayed string and twisted wire from the shoulders or sometimes by the neck. Finch subverts the ordinary and engages with the uncanny; a strange and anxious feeling created by familiar objects in unfamiliar contexts. Featuring full reproductions of each artwork alongside close details that reveal their composition, the book is threaded with poetic texts by Finch that blur the lines between personal memories, surreal dreams and everyday reality.

HENI Publishing MadC: Street to Canvas
MadC: Street to Canvas is the first monograph on the world-renowned contemporary artist and muralist MadC (Claudia Walde), whose practice moves dynamically between the street and the studio to capture the energy of painting and test the heights of its possibility. For more than two decades – from her beginnings in the 1990s as a graffiti artist in the local scene of Bautzen in east Germany to largescale public murals on an international level – MadC has captivated global audiences with her distinctive style, characterised by abstract compositions of bold, sweeping lines and transparent layers of vivid colours. Writer and curator Luisa Heese charts the artist’s career, exploring MadC’s immense body of work in locations across more than 35 countries. Over 200 artworks and personal photographs illustrate the book, showcasing her unique use of colour and the spontaneous movement of lines produced by spray cans and brushstrokes. From street to canvas, MadC adorns each surface with a vivacity that surpasses cultural barriers. Traversing private and public spaces, her work constantly blurs the lines between street art and fine art. What is revealed is the potential for art to be an inclusive and universal language to connect and inspire people and communities around the world.

HENI Publishing Mary McCartney: Paris Nude
In July 2016, Mary McCartney travelled to Paris for a special photo shoot. Over two days, McCartney would stay with her subject Phyllis Wang at her St Germain apartment and photograph her in the nude. A mixture of black and white and colour, the delicate photographs collected here showcase the intimacy and trust required from both subject and photographer. Over the course of their time together, we see the model increasingly relax in front of the camera as she assumes various poses, and an unspoken bond between the two gradually develops. Moments of humour arise, through Wang's adoption of props, including her collection of hats, and in details that emerge from their candid accounts of the two days - notably an initial misunderstanding about an x-rated shoot - which engagingly annotes the photographs throughout the book. Phyllis Wang is a New York-born stand-up comedian, living and working in Paris. She is known for her eccentric clothing style and love of fashion. The nude photography in the book forms a striking yet complementary contrast to her lively on-stage persona. The book features an essay by Charlotte Jansen, writer and editor-at-large at Elephant Magazine. She is the author of Girl on Girl: Art and Photography in the Age of the Female Gaze. Jansen frames McCartney's photographs through a historical study of the nude in photography and from the perspective of the female gaze.

HENI Publishing Vegan Art: A Book Of Visual Protest
Tommy Kane brings together, for the first time, a collection of contemporary vegan artists whose works grapple with one of the biggest issues of our century and confront our conflicted relationship with animals. With diverse contributions, Vegan Art combines a passion for art as a language with the rebellion against animal abuse and exploitation, with the belief that art should be a mechanism for social change. The complex visual language of the book is purposefully graphic and controversial. From utopian depictions of a world that vegans are fighting for, to dark dystopian impressions and brutal, bloody mutilations of non-human animals in industrial agriculture, the project tests the potential of our humanity and asks for equality for all species. With violent imagery and references to major food corporations – such as McDonalds – the project is unflinching in its advocation of veganism and animal rights. Vegan Art engenders a sense of humility with a shared view that art has the power to move people to be informed consumers. Featuring artworks by Tommy Kane, Andrew Tilsley, Milk DoNg Comics, Dan Piraro, Melinda Hegedus, Tommy Flynn and Cynical Coyote.

As an inescapable aspect of everyday life, money has appeared in the background of art throughout its history within the context of mythological, biblical and historic scenes. In the last seventy years however, as consumer culture has spread internationally, many artists have given money the centre stage in their work to reflect on various economic, political, social and symbolic concerns that relate to different currencies and formats. In some of these artworks, physical money banknotes and coins plus cheques and credit cards is the actual art material, used by artists to question and subvert notions of value or to examine the aesthetics of these quotidian objects. Others have embraced burgeoning digital currencies in their artworks, looking forward to a possible future where money is wholly intangible. HENI Publishing Calais: Testimonies from the 'Jungle' 2006-2020
Between 2006 and 2020, French photographer and artist Bruno Serralongue conducted a prolonged engagement with the community of refugees on their last stop in a long journey to reach England. The resulting photographs, which formed the basis for an exhibition at Paris’s Centre Pompidou in 2019, are published here for the first time. Serralongue captured disparate moments in the lives of the exiles, their attempts to reach England and their provisional camps which were dismantled by the French government in 2020. Serralongue’s images employ a suspended temporality that contradicts the sensationalised images broadcast by the mass media, recalling the visual traditions of history painting more than photojournalism. The slowness of his photography, a characteristic of working with a view camera, requires both a distance from, and a proximity with, the subjects photographed, achievable only due to a relationship of trust built with the inhabitants of the ‘Jungle’.

This monograph is the first to chart the entire career of Irish artist Conor Harrington, from the nascent graffiti of his teenage years to his status as an internationally recognised artist. Striking photography captures the visual evolution of a unique practice that has united the opulent ceremony of the baroque with the stark immediacy of graffiti. This updated edition now includes works which featured in Conor s September 2016 exhibition. Equally celebrated for both his large-scale gallery work and vast outdoor pieces, the book is split into Indoor and Outdoor sections. Harrington s artistic journey takes in Ireland, the UK, the US, Norway, Spain, Poland, Brazil and even the Bethlehem Wall, and is supplemented by fascinating documentary photography alongside the artist s personal narrative.

HENI Publishing Cage: Six Tableaux de Gerhard Richter
The Cage paintings were conceived as a single coherent group, and displayed for the first time at the Venice Biennale in 2007. Their titles, Cage (1) (6), pay homage to the American avant- garde composer John Cage (1912 92). In his Lecture on Nothing , Cage famously declared I have nothing to say and I m saying it . Richter is equally suspicious of ideologies and any claim to absolute truth. He shies away from giving psychological interpretations to his paintings, preferring to allow viewers and critics to make up their own minds. Leading critic Robert Storr considers the importance of the Cage paintings within Richter s practice and within the wider context of abstract art. A series of extraordinary, detailed photographs document the development of each painting, day by day, and show the artist at work on these monumental canvases, giving unique insight into his working methods.

HENI Publishing Picabia Inside Out
In the 1950s, American painter Philip Pearlstein completed his MA thesis, ‘The Paintings of Francis Picabia 1908–1930’. When his research coincided with Picabia’s death in 1953, Pearlstein became the authority on the work of Picabia and his influence in European modernism that set the stage for modern art in America. Of course, it is impossible to discuss Picabia without also considering the work of Marcel Duchamp. At different intervals in his career, Pearlstein wrote three subsequent essays on Picabia for major arts journals: ‘The Symbolic Language of Francis Picabia’ for Arts magazine, 1956; ‘Hello & Goodbye, Francis Picabia’ for Art News, 1970, and ‘When the Dada Daddies Got Real; Or, How I Turned Picabia Inside Out’ for Brooklyn Rail, 2017. Pearlstein’s articles present a fascinating comparison between Picabia, Duchamp and Pearlstein himself. Picabia Inside Out brings together Pearlstein’s articles in full, published in an illustrated paperback book with a facsimile of the 1955 MA thesis presented as an historical document showing all the nuances of his typewriter. A foreword by Robert Storr highlights the broader art historical context and Pearlstein’s importance as a precursor to what became known as postmodernism.
