The Florentine marque built its own two- and four-stroke engines in-house, but has always been open to joint ventures with other European or Japanese firms. Founded as a bicycle manufacturer, Beta Motorcycles moved into the moped market in the 1960s, off-road motorcycles in the late 1970s, enduro models in the following decade and then scooters, for over 20 years, not to mentions the Trial sector in which it conquered eight World Championship titles. In more recent years the company has returned to the "classic" Motocross and Enduro categories and in 2016 collected a further two world titles, including the Constructors' Championship. Drawing upon thirty years of fieldwork, this beautifully written and innovatively constructed ethnography tells the story of the Beta Israel, who began immigrating from Ethiopia to Israel in the 1970s. Once in Israel, their world changed in formerly unimaginable ways, such as conversion under Rabbinic restrictions, moving into multistory buildings, different attitudes toward gender and reproduction, and perhaps above all, the newly acquired distinctiveness of the color of their bodies.In the face of such changes, the Beta Israel held on to a key idiom in their lives: meat. The community continues to be organized into kirchas, groups of friends and family who purchase and raise cows, then butcher and divide the animal's body into small and equal chunks, which are distributed among the kircha through a lottery ritual. Flowing back and forth between Ethiopia to Israel, Meat Matters follows the many strands of significance surrounding cows and meat, ultimately forming a vibrant web of meaning at the heart of the Beta Israel community today.

β-galactosidase is an enzyme responsible for catalyzing the hydrolysis of the lactose β-1,4 linkage into α-D-glucose and β-D-galactose. β-galactosidase is found in plants, animals and microorganisms. In Beta-Galactosidase: Properties, Structure and Functions, the authors discuss the main microorganisms that produce β-galactosidase, the characteristics of the culture media, bioprocessing parameters, the most relevant downstream steps used in the recovery of microbial β-galactosidase, as well as the main immobilisation techniques. Next, this compilation examines β-galactosidases classification, mechanisms, characterization and applications. Recent advances in galacto-oligosaccharides production and purification are also covered, and different challenges and future perspectives are discussed. In the closing study, strains with β-Galactosidase activity were isolated from 25 Yak Yoghourt samples collected from the Gannan pasturing area of Gansu Province. An efficient β-galactosidase producing strain SYA2 screened out from 21 strains was identified as Enterobacter sp. by means of morphological feature observation, physiological and biochemical characteristics measurement, and 16S rDNA sequence analysis.
