This pictorial history traces some of the dramatic changes and developments that have taken place in the city of Coventry during the last century. This collection of 170 old photographs are drawn largely from the archives of the Coventry Evening Telegraph; the local daily newspaper which has served the people of Coventry since 1891.
They highlight some of the important events that occured in the city during this time, including the arrival of the railway at the end of the nineteenth centyrt and the blitz bombing during the Second World War which devastated the streets and public houses, shops and industry, to sporting events, leisure pursuits and, of course, the local townspeople.
Accompanied by supporting text, this book is a valuable pictorial history which will reawaken nostalgic memories for some, while offering a unique glimpse of this city's proud heritage for others.
