Description

Text in Arabic. Until now, not much has been written about the narratives of childrens literature in Qatar, despite its importance. With the rise of children's literature in Arab countries in general and Qatar in particular, studies exploring this literary field from a cultural perspective have not developed when compared to the vast academic research available from Western countries and about childrens literature in the West. As the rise of childrens literature in Qatar has increased tenfold in the current era, this book reviews the three stages that childrens stories in Qatar have progressed through: their humble beginnings, their extension, and into maturity. It deals with examples of stories in each stage, and analyses their narrative structures, through descriptive reading and analytical reading, to find out the most prominent narrative characteristics, and follow the development of children's literature in its local context.
