Description
This monographic work proposes a plural approach to the issue of the copy during the medieval period. Once we overcome the presumed dichotomy between the concepts of originality and copy, the versatile nature of this artistic phenomenon arises: as an element of learning, a resource for emulating well known artworks and authors, a tool for creating prototypes, or a way of publicizing the mostoutstanding works from a collection.
This is the guiding thread of the different texts of The copy and its uses in Late Gothic Painting. Time, Memory and Identity, where experts from different areas of knowledge, through global approaches and case studies, break down the different uses of the copy, its marketing process, or its own materiality.
