Description

Eurocode 1, EN 1991: Actions on Structures, is made up of four main parts. These parts provide comprehensive information and guidance on all the actions it is normally necessary to consider in the design of building and civil engineering structures. The first of these parts, EN 1991-1: General actions, is divided into seven sub-parts.

In Designers' Guide to Eurocode 1: Actions on buildings the authors explain and include commentary on the clauses within the sub-parts of EN 1991-1, providing guidance on the interpretation and use of the clauses when considering the following actions on buildings:

1-1: Densities, self-weight and imposed loads

1-3: Snow loads

1-4: Wind actions

1-5: Thermal actions

1-6: Actions during execution

1-7: Accidental actions

All clauses are to be used alongside the basic overall principles given in EN 1990, and EN 1992-99 as appropriate, for design and verification.
