Robert John Thornton (1768–1837) was an English physician and botanist. His Temple of Flora (part III of his New Illustration of the Sexual System of Carolus von Linnaeus) featured beautiful floral engravings from Dutch-style paintings mostly by Philip Reinagle (1749–1833) .
