Book SynopsisThis monograph consists of eight chapters that provide updates in the field of health and disease. Chapter One describes orthostatic hypotension, a geriatric syndrome caused by postural blood pressure change, and its impact on quality of life in the elderly. Chapter Two describes the causes and effects of endometriosis, a common condition in women of reproductive age that is very frequently associated with infertility. Chapter Three also relates to infertility, as it presents up-to-date information on the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression on conception, impaired fertility, and infertility. Chapter Four investigates the possible involvement of the superior colliculus in eye movement problems associated with progressive supranuclear palsy, a rare type of "parkinsonism" that can affect all types of eye movement. Chapter Five summarizes the recently published, epidemiological findings referring to the impact of environmental and occupational factors on fecundity and fertility.
