Description
Book SynopsisTime Pieces for Descant/Soprano Recorder is a two-volume anthology of well-crafted arrangements of music from the 14th century to the present day. The pieces are presented chronologically within each volume and all include the year in which they were written, so that you can get a feel for the different styles of music through time. Both volumes feature contrasting styles, from Susato to Chopin and from Mozart to Prokofiev and are an invaluable source of further study and recital repertoire for Grades 1-5.
Trade Review'These books become especially valuable as they contain music representing Classical, Romantic and Modern periods - styles that are often not included in the education of younger recorder students. * American Recorder *
All four of these volumes include wonderful selections, representative of many historical eras and of many different genres within each era. * American Recorder *
Considered as a whole, this series really hit home with me, since music students on any instrument at any level of instruction should be developing a knowledge of stylistic distinctions of the various musical eras. The arrangements by Bowman and Bullard are top-notch; the piano accompaniments are interesting and true to the spirit and the harmonic structure of the original compositions. * American Recorder *
