According to the World Health Organization, approximately one person dies every six seconds from tobacco use. Despite the negative effects of smoking, the healthcare profession is not entirely smoke-free; an issue which must be addressed as this group is on the frontlines of tobacco control. This book presents the findings of over 360 surveys of smoking among doctors, dentists and nurses, as well as students in these fields. Much can be learned from the data; the most important being a comprehensive understanding of how many healthcare professionals smoke, in what country, and at what stage in their career. The gathering of such data is the focus of this book.
