This book is brilliant. The patterns are beautiful and I can't wait to see my son wearing lots of these amazing knits!

This book is perfect for intermediate to advanced knitters, however, if you’re a keen beginner I’m sure you could follow the very well written instructions. The designs are modern yet timeless pieces which are perfect for the age category of 3-9 years of age. I particularly like the Hestehov Sweater Dress for my young daughter and the Stort Fro Mittens as Christmas gifts. From my experience with other knitting patterns the sizes seem pretty accurate but as I’ve not completed my project yet I’ll have to wait and see. I really like the layout of this book and would thoroughly recommend it to any keen knitters.

Monica Russel has created this pattern book as she 'felt that there has been a gap in the market for traditional and contemporary patterns for children aged 3 to 9'. She also believes that 'there are relatively few designs that are unisex or for boys'.

The book starts with a short history of Nordic Knitting and the obligatory pages on yarn, tools, techniques, with good illustrations on stranded colour work, cables, I-cord and finishing. Pages 36 and 37 give the colour thumbnails of the 15 designs which start with a hat/scarf set and end with a long-sleeved, yoked cardigan. The patterns all have written out, row-by-row instructions, with clear charts for the stranded colour work. Sizing is given in the pattern instructions but there are no schematics. The patterns are split between 14 accessories and 14 garments, with one toy completing the collections.

The designs are worked in sympathetic colourways, which should appeal to the target audience, and the knitting is well within the reach of an intermediate knitter looking for fresh inspiration to clothe youngsters.

This book is lovely. Many beautiful items to knit. I particularly like the look of the teddy bear. As yet I have not attempted to knit anything but the instructions look very clear. I am sure it will be well used.

-- Brian Lewis * Amazon Customer Review *

Beautiful book full of fabulous knits and oh the teddy bear is stunning. This book is packed with detail of every item you need and how to cast on through to finishing end knit. Start with the leg warmers or scarf and you will be hooked into knitting more as instructions are so easy to follow.

-- Pauline Forster * Amazon Customer Review *

A really wonderful knitting book, suitable for everyone from beginners to accomplished knitters. Well laid out how to knit sections and beautiful designs to knit. The patterns themselves are clear and easy to follow and I can't wait to get started making the teddy.

-- Sheri Darby * Amazon Customer Review *

This is a delightful book, well written with clear diagrams and very interesting projects. There are several I want to start straight away! It’s a pleasure to see colourful eye catching garments and accessories that are up to date. The yarns used are widely available and described at the end of the book should a substitution be desired and I think any child (and their parent) would be more than happy with one of these projects. A pleasure to knit and a pleasure to give.
