Description
Book SynopsisChinese Medicine Periodicals from the Late Qing and Republican China: An Overview includes an introduction of 49 periodicals on Chinese medicine published in the late Qing and Republican periods in China. These 49 periodicals, both aged and rare, were compiled together in collaboration with over 50 libraries, and reprinted by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House in 2012. In 2017, Brill developed an online version of this collection. Considered one of the best sources for observing the changing nature of medical practice and education during the late Qing and Republican eras in China, this collection provides unique insight into not only the modern transformation of Chinese medicine, but also the larger role of medicine in Chinese society. The collection of 49 periodicals on Chinese medicine is available online, full-text searchable. For more information on the online database, please visit the Brill webpage.
