Book Synopsis
Over the past two decades, personal trainer Javeno McLean has dedicated himself to helping others in his community: this is his story, and the story of all those who have found a community through his gym. Born in Jamaica in 1985, Javeno was raised in North Manchester, finding joy in playing cricket and preparing for a life in professional sports. But his life changed when he made the decision to channel his passion into helping others through fitness. In 2015, Javeno opened the J7 health centre, and has been working with people with disabilities and illnesses to encourage them to find joy and confidence in exercise. He has shared his journey of helping people across his community, not only to build physical fitness, but to form human connections. Javeno hasn't just shared his own story, but has propelled the voices of the people who train with him, amplifying the joy that they have found in training together. This is a memoir about the strength that can be found in community, and how kindness and understanding can spark real change in the world.
