Book Synopsis

These days, modesty seems to be a floundering ship ... and the more we try to patch her up with teaching, the faster she seems to sink. Passing on this virtue to the next generation can feel like a hopeless cause. Instead of answering the questions we usually ask - where to draw the lines - What's Up with the Fig Leaves? points us towards the really important questions - where to lay the foundations. Building on what Scripture teaches, we obtain an understanding of modesty that will not capsize even in a world lurching from one sexual revolution to another.

Trade Review

With impressive thoroughness and depth, Heather examines modesty from a biblical, historical, and practical perspective. Mix in plenty of heart and grace, and you have a substantive, helpful resource for teachers, leaders, mentors, parents, and pastors who find themselves dealing with this complex and important subject.

-- Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth (Author and founder & host of Revive Our Hearts)

I enjoyed this book because it led my thinking about modesty into "uncharted territory." This book is a blessing because of the author's extensive research, careful thought, wise humility, and her desire to be biblical and God-honoring. May it be used to glorify God in all who read it!

-- Kent Keller (Associate Pastor of Faith Bible Church, Sharpsburg, Georgia and Co-author of Modesty: More than a Change of Clothes)

This is a good book. The aim is not so much to catalogue a list of what is modest, but rather to examine biblically what is entailed in the concept of modesty. The underlying conviction of the author is that we need our hearts purified as well as our minds clarified. Altogether, this book is warmly recommended.
