Road, his first play, won the Samuel Beckett Award, 1986; Drama magazine's Best New Play Award 1986; was joint winner of the George Devine Award 1986 and Plays and Players Award, 1986. The TV version won the Golden Nymph Award for the best film at the Mnote Carlo Television Festival. His other plays include The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Royal National Theatre, Cottesloe, 1992 and the Aldwych Theatre, London, 1992) winner of the Evening Standard Best Comedy Award in 1992 and teh 1993 Olivier Award for Best Comedy.
