Her contented reverie is broken by a raccoon on a nearby bough, equally excited to have found the ideal resting spot. A squirrel soon scampers into view, followed by a parade of other critters, all insisting that the tree is meant for everyone. Bird is furious; she found the spot first, so why should she have to share? But she has a change of heart when she watches a beautiful sunset from her nest and realizes that it would be even nicer to share the moment with a friend. Come daylight, she gathers the other residents together to watch the spectacular sunset and hopes that they stay. The sweet, silly story makes a strong case for sharing, and comforting repetition and comical exaggeration in the text would make for an amusing read-aloud.
