Book Synopsis
Text in Danish and Serbian. Poems by the Serbo-Croatian poet Alexander Sajin. Published in the author''s own translation in both Serbo-Croat and Danish. The book is a collection of prose-poetic texts which thematically depict images of the historical (European) and the individual (the fictitious narrator''s) time mostly from the 20th century. The book is published in its own translation in both Serbo-Croatian and Danish. Seeing the two languages side by side may already in itself be an encounter, our Indo-European encounter, from the time when the Germanic and Slavic tribes used the same words for mother, milk and night. We have now forgotten it after all the thousands of years that have gone by and will no longer admit to our primordial native language hidden beneath the roots of the words, and knowledge of our fraternity is presumed forever lost ... were it not that there is a place in our lives whence we so plainly can see each other: in the moment of death. This is why most of the historical personae of the book tell the story of their lives on the threshold between life and death, as death is the only meeting place we always have left. It always comes off.
