Book SynopsisRicardo Augusto Caminos studied Egyptology at Oxford University and the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute. He worked on number of Egyptian and Sudanese excavations and held teaching positions at a number of universities in the USA and the Soviet Union. His field of specialisation was hieratic palaeography and epigraphy, working on Egypt Exploration Society missions at Gebel el-Silsila, Qasr Ibrim, Buhen and Semna-Kumma. He was also involved in the archaeological rescue campaign prompted by the construction of the Aswan Dam. He died in 1992.
Jürgen Osing was Professor of Egyptology at the University of Bonn from 1982 until 1991, afterwards at the Free University Berlin until his retirement.
