Book Synopsis

The Fir Tree grows in a forest far away from the bustle of the town. It is a beautiful place, but he dreams of the excitement of the outside world. His friend the Robin tells him stories of the places she has seen, and the forest animals dress him up with berries and leaves, but he is still not happy. One day he is cut down and taken away to be a beautiful Christmas tree in the middle of town. He thinks his dreams have come true, but what will happen when his decorations are put away?

A lyrical story of friendship and new life with an ultimately uplifting ending. Jameson's pre-Raphaelite inspired illustrations make this a Christmas picture book of great beauty.

Trade Review
The Robin and the Fir Tree speaks loudly to readers young and old about love, renewal and the cycle of life, and is the ideal gift book for the season of sharing, caring and remembrance -- Lancashire Post * Lancashire Post *

The thing I find the most special about books - children's books in particular - is their ability to draw you in and lose you amongst the beauty of both the illustrations and the words.

The Robin & The Fir Tree is yet another prime example of this and is a stunning book. Written and illustrated by Jason Jameson, and published by @templarbooks, the story is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Fir Tree'.

My son and I have read through the book several times together and it never ceases to capture our feelings and emotions. The story walks you through the friendship of a faithful robin and a fir tree - the fir tree being very discontent with life and constantly wishing for something more. Finally, when the fir tree receives it's greatest wish, the outcome was not what it dreamt of at all. The ending makes the hairs on my arms stand on end because it is so poignant and so beautifully captured in the illustrations.

Again, I would recommend this book for young and old alike. There is the obligatory moral to the story - be careful what you wish for - and you will want to read it over and over again. It's also reminded us of a valuable lesson in caring for and looking after everything around us - fir trees and robins included!

Available to buy online or from all good booksellers, the RRP is £14.99. This book would make the most beautiful read during Advent in the run up to Christmas. Highly recommended.
