Book Synopsis
Jesus unflinchingly walked the road that he had chosen, knowing its cost. In our lives we find ourselves on roads not always of our choosing, often puzzling, sometimes full of light when faith seems easy, sometimes darkened and troubled. As we journey through the events of Holy Week we find Jesus sharing that human perplexity and struggle, always fully engaged, determined to accompany us on the journey that lies ahead, giving us confidence to pray and act for the needs of those close to us and for the needs of the world. Janet Killeen uses a variety of perspectives to get close to the events of Holy Week. Some of the events are far from holy: treacherous, hostile and increasingly isolating for the Man at their heart, who comes to us in his isolation, in confrontation and rejection, in the sorrow and anguish he experienced, so that we might never be alone. Janet Killeen studied English and American literature, and taught in a London comprehensive school for over thirty-five years. She has published poems, short stories and two novels, and is a regular contributor to Wild Goose books.
