Gabby Rojas is a young high school student studying hard to get the grades she needs to study medicine at university. She came to the USA with her mother and grandparents from Venezuela seeking a better life. Otto Harrington is a student at the same high school, but he is the son of a famous film director father and an actress mother and lives a rich and privileged existence.

When Gabby and Otto are put together on a psychology class project there is open hostility between the two students. They both recognise that they must try to get along to complete the project but coming from such different worlds will they ever understand one another? Despite the odd set back they both start to realise each other''s lives are not as clear cut as they first thought and the mutual antipathy between them starts to develop into a relationship.
