Book Synopsis
In Brooke Burroughs’s endearing debut novel set in vibrant India, enemies turned allies encounter obstacles in an unexpected multicultural romance only to discover that in the end, love is love. Emma has always lived her life according to a plan. But after turning down her boyfriend’s proposal, everything starts to crumble. In an effort to save the one thing she cares about—her job—she must recruit her colleague, Rishi, to be on her development team…only she may or may not have received the position he was promised. (She did.) Rishi cannot believe that he got passed over for promotion. To make matters worse, not only does his job require him to return home to Bangalore with his nemesis, Emma, but his parents now expect him to choose a bride and get married. So, when Emma makes him an offer—join her team, and she’ll write an algorithm to find him the perfect bride—he reluctantly accepts. Neither of them expect her marriage code to work so well—or to fall for one another—which leads Emma and Rishi to wonder if leaving fate up to formulas is really an equation for lasting love.

An Amazon Best Book of the Month: Romance Named one of the “Best Books of Winter 2021” by Frolic “Two engaging leads, plenty of family drama, and the vibrant backdrop of India blend in a slow-burn romance that is as much for seasoned readers as it is for those who are new to the genre. Burroughs is an author to watch.” —Library Journal “Brooke Burroughs’s The Marriage Code has it all: an enemies-to-lovers plot, a heroine in a STEM field, and an Emily in Paris-style relocation subplot that finds the book’s central characters moving to Bangalore.” —POPSUGAR “The perfect type of story to take you on an adventure and leave you with a grin on your face, The Marriage Code was a charmer of a romance.” —Harlequin Junkie “On one level The Marriage Code is a fun, rom-com jaunt from Seattle to India. On another, deeper level, this story is filled with the push and pull of family and cultural expectations. Of the realities of modern cross-cultural love and the obstacles that may seem insurmountable at times. I love books set in India, I love stories that open a window into an aspect of a culture I would not have otherwise experienced—I loved The Marriage Code.” —FrecklesUnabridged “With a truly original love story set against the backdrop of Bangalore, India, this book shines. Author Brooke Burroughs must be following her own secret algorithm to so successfully win readers’ hearts with this sparkling debut.” —Drink. Read. Repeat. “Thoroughly charming, a modern romance for people who love to laugh!” —Penny Reid, New York Times bestselling author “Deliciously entertaining. A page-turning delight! You’ll root for Emma from start to finish!” —Nina Bocci, USA Today bestselling author “The Marriage Code is an adorable, satisfying, and sweet romance I devoured in one sitting. It will make you homesick for India, even if you’ve never been there.” —LJ Shen, USA Today bestselling author
