Book Synopsis
Of his poetry collection “The Book of Snow” Robert Seatter says, I wanted to describe the arc of a relationship through one image: snow. I then gave these snow-inspired poems to artist Jessica Palmer, who interpreted them in paper cut, collage and collograph. Fascinated by her artistic process, I wrote a parallel sequence of poems exploring the art of her interpretation. These were unified in a stark and powerful, black and white design by graphic designer Sally James. The result is, I hope, a work of connection, definition and revelation.

Trade Review
So is there then a world// that isn't white? asks the paper artist. Barely, in this beautiful collection of almost hypnotic concentration on the capacity of whiteness and silence to contain all the fever and warmth of human feeling and sensuality, of promise and loss. Poetry collections this focused and intricately-assembled are rare - The Book of Snow reveals Seatter at his most lyrical and elegiac while also at his most honest and sharp, like the paper-cutter's knife 'slicing calmly' to create poems of haunting personal definition and clarity. Jane Draycott
