Description

Book Synopsis
The aim of this teaching material is to let Latin students learn through the medium of the monument that not only Latin texts function as carriers of Roman culture, but that they must also be viewed together with archaeological remains. In addition to basic information on the Colosseum, the history of the monument's origins and its historical context, further assignments in this issue deal with amphitheatrical performance practice. At the end, Seneca has his say, morally criticizing what is going on in the amphitheater. All tasks, which alternate between pure translation tasks, gap texts and synoptic text work, are flanked by supporting links to information material, digital reconstructions or learning platforms. All digital resources can be accessed quickly and easily with a mobile device using the attached QR codes.
