Description

Book Synopsis
Suitable for beginner violinists, this book features music and fun activities from the very first lesson to inspire and stimulate pupils and teachers. It includes piano accompaniments and violin duet lines.

Trade Review

Superstart begins by teaching students the different parts of the instrument and how to hold it comfortably before moving on to pizzicato followed by bowed open strings, using crotchets, quavers and semiquavers as well as crotchet rests. Fingers are introduced one at a time on each string followed by key signatures, further note lengths and rests, slurs and low second fingers.

Throughout Superstart other technical aspects such as harmonics and glissandi are introduced, and dynamics feature early on. There are boxes at the top of each page containing the main learning points for easy reference.....Superstart moves quickly, but provides a very thorough and imaginative foundation which younger students in particular would enjoy. The books contain a wide variety of traditional music, well-known classical pieces and new material. There are helpful tips throughout and amusing illustrations by Todd O’Neill as well as brainteasers, little games to help learn
rhythms and fun activities. I have no hesitation in recommending this book, which would be suitable for individual or group teaching.
