An excellent monograph for lower level courses. Lewis writes very well, without jargon and complex phraseology, with a clear goal of showing students the connection between predictions and the collection of empirical materials that would permit testing. While it is true that he skirts treatment of the nature of theory and collective behavior, he is able to include in the monograph a surprising amount of scientific methods and substantive materials.
