Book SynopsisBeethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, more commonly known as Pathetique, is considered one of his greatest works. The autograph manuscript is lost, and only a few sketches have survived. For this new Urtext edition by Johannes Fischer, the first edition (Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Vienna 1799) was consulted as the authoritative source, thoroughly checked and compared with subsequent editions, alongside a large number of early reprints by other publishers. Beautifully bound and with critical commentary in German and English, this edition is designed for the needs of the practical performer.
