Book SynopsisTchaikovsky''s ''Variations on a Rococo Theme'' for cello and orchestra were composed in 1876-77 and indicative of the composer''s love of Mozart and the classical style. The work''s original cellist, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen had an important influence on the gestation of the work (an edition of Tchaikovsky''s original version of the work edited by Raphael Wallfisch and John York is also available (EP7673)). This Edition Peters volume edited by Paul Grümmer contains a piano reduction of the orchestral accompaniment and separate cello part.
Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowskys Variationen über ein Rokoko-Themaop. 33 für Cello und Orchester wurden 1876-77 komponiert und zeigen die Liebe des Komponisten zu Mozart und zum klassischen Stil auf. Der Cellist der Uraufführung, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, hatte einen starken Einfluss auf die Entstehung des Werkes. Eine Ausgabe von Tschaikowskys ursprünglicher Fassung des Werks, herausgegeben von Raphael Wallfisch und John York, ist ebenfalls erhältlich (EP7673). Dieser von Paul Grümmer herausgegebene Band enthält einen Klavierauszug der Orchesterbegleitung und eine separate Cellostimme.
