Book Synopsis

Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales. These patches normally appear on the elbows, knees, scalp and lower back but can appear anywhere on the body. Most people are only affected in small patches. In some cases, the patches can be itchy or sore. Psoriasis is a long-lasting (chronic) disease that usually involves periods when there are no symptoms or mild symptoms, followed by periods when symptoms are more severe (NHS Choices).

This book is a concise guide to the management of psoriasis. The new edition has been fully revised and updated to provide clinicians and trainees with the latest advances and knowledge in the field.

Beginning with an introduction to the condition, its epidemiology, pathogenesis, immunology and clinical aspects, the following chapters discuss psoriasis with different medical comorbidities, including in pregnancy, with HIV, as a systemic disease, and in children.

Investigation techniques and treatment methods are described in depth and the final sections examine complications and psychological aspects.

This second edition features a brand new chapter on dermoscopy.

The text is highly illustrated with clinical photographs to enhance learning and each chapter includes extensive references.

The previous edition (9789351521235) published in 2014.
