When a prisoner is up for parole, a decision must be made. How will they behave when released? Will they cope? Will they reoffend?
Some people have terrible early life experiences setting them on a destructive path that’s difficult to alter. Some can change, while others never do. Some will do everything they can to build a better life, others refuse to recognise they have done anything wrong. It’s vital to assess the dangers and make the right call.
With over a decade on the Parole Board, these are the stories that have shaped a career where risks are high and the repercussions can be devastating.
