Since the author sees slavery as some wider phenomenon, he focuses on the Ku Klux Klan activity aimed against African Americans, the horror of lynching, American penal system, segregation of the races in connection with the Civil Rights Movement; in other words, those activities whose purpose was to still keep men of color in bondage or to re-enslave them.
