Aristotle's Metaphysics is one of the most influential books in history, yet due to the vicissitudes of its writing, editing, and transmission it is notoriously difficult. No one has made more consistent sense out of it, nor contributed to the further development of its thought than St. Thomas Aquinas, but for today's students his commentary too requires a good guide.
