Book Synopsis
A specialist discourse on contemporary church history was last held in the 1990s. It therefore seems high time to face the questions that have arisen since then about the temporal, content-related and interdisciplinary aspects of the research field and to re-measure it in view of the changed framework conditions. Current issues are discussed together in a group of renowned experts from various disciplines. The first four chapters deal with periodization questions, research subjects, actors and their intentions, as well as source questions. The last two chapters deal with the question of the opportunities and limits of interdisciplinarity and shed light on contemporary church history from a European and global perspective. The volume was created in a bi-denominational cooperation between the Evangelical Working Group for Church Contemporary History and the Commission for Contemporary History.
