She wakes up to discover that she has been living in a simulation of Earth as it was in the early 21st century. Earth was destroyed centuries ago, and what's left of humanity lives in a nearby space station. Over 700,000 people, known as Iron Dreamers live within the simulation, unaware of the true reality. The simulation exists because the future has many problems, and what's left of humanity does not have the computing power or innovation to solve them all. People kept in suspension consume less food, space and oxygen. Lexi is recruited to capture an unknown figure who is sabotaging the simulation and putting all of humanity at risk. But why are they trying to destroy the simulation if it's been working for centuries? And why was Lexi woken from it?
